Hi, I have a weird probelm and I have narrowed it down to possibly my Video card??? I know that sounds wierd but ever since I had this card installed I am unable to Host any games Mainly TAW..

I was wondering if anybody that uses the 260.99 drivers has any troubles Hosting any games??

Now before you start saying it is a Port issue Please dont go there it is NOT the ports..Trust me ALL the ports come back as Open..

I dont believe the firewall is the issue as it is disabled in Both areas to be disabled and off..I have tried it with the Windows Firewall OFf and On with Exceptions???

I am thinking nVidia with their infinite wisdom is sneaking in their Firewall with the Video Drivers, have heard about them doing this in the past..

Well Sort of Good news it was NOT the Drivers.. I installed my old video card and was still unable to Host..

I then had 2 friends do a Tracert to my ip and it timed out in my local hub both times. so it may be an ISP end Problem..
I called my ISP late last night and they where like we do NOT know anything about tracert?? I was like ok then he kept insisting it was my wireless conection and to unplug my Router and modem to reset them

Arghhh such incompetance, well after a vulgar display of power on my end the guy said we can put in a ticket and have some real techs look at the problem hehe I was like why didnt he just do that from the start instead of making me be a rather mean and nasty person of which I hate doing..

WEll they said it will take 72 hours to look into the probelm as they need to run some tests on the backend, so Hopefully this will solve my probelm once they get it fixed..

The Tracert thing might not be diagnostic. Did you check your other router settings? There is sometimes a setting to make the router non-pingable as a security measure which might also make it invisible to tracert. Shouldn't affect other connections though, as, I think it just filters out ICMP traffic. This COULD be a reason for tracerts ending at the local hub just before your IP. This, however, still makes the inability to host problematic. The only real difference between HOSTS and CLIENTS is that they need to receive inbound traffic, so if it isn't ports on your end, it is still likely something further upstream and still the ISP's problem, similar to what John Stratton had to go through for Steel Beasts.

I thought that a lot of times you guys fly TAW on Homfries' Hamachi server which SHOULD overcome this stuff. Did you try hosting over a Hamachi connection?

Hey Recluse Did NOT think of the Respond to ping times could of caused it???

I will enable it again and try to have someone run another tracert and Enable WAN Ping respond when I have them do it..

Well I was told that Johns troubles was the apartment complex had a router on their end and made him double natted and he needed to have the Complex forward the ports to his IP??

So it was not related to the isp but his Apartment complex??

no I am usually the host and everybody joins me.. We tried using Hamachi last night it did NOT even work???

BTW, Neph could also not connect or host in Falcon AF. As a client, he could see my mission but I couldn't see him in the lobby. And he couldn't actually connect to the mission. Considering Falcon's history with connectivity, we tried ArmA 2. He COULD host in that.

Well I had reenable Respond to WAN Ping and the Tracert was successful 3 different times..

I as a last resort did a Restore to a previous point and that had no effect.. I went back to the date I was able to host..thinking maybe it was a windows update..

No good I am all out of ideas as too what could cause such behavior??

Mid/North Eastern HUBs for internet in the US are having issues due to the snow storm.

yes I had called my ISP today for a Email problem they said everything is OK on their end.... I had the Hosting problem long before these storms..

Well good news I had ran a test on another PC in the house and was Able to host.. looks like it is something with my Gaming PC??

but the only thing I did wasget the new vid card along with nVidias 3D Vision and some windows updates which I uninstalled temporarily..

I also removed the Exceptions in the firewall and reinstated them Hopefully that could have been the issue ??
