Guy who owns it has a fair amount of coin and is paying me to make it into something incredible. I pulled apart the HOTAS setup and it would take someone with a lot more machining talent than I have (*cough* none *cough*) to mount potentiometers on them. Although, to be fair, I should post some pics of the guts of the HOTAS setup and you guys might have some ideas.

Anyhow, basically I'll build it, he'll pay for all the hardware. I have a lot of programming experience, so I'm not really too intimidated with wiring up the switches with EPIC (unless you guys have better ideas).

Anyhow, lemme know what you guys think. This will be the first pit I've ever actually worked with. I've been a long time sim enthusiast though and I'm also a commercial helicopter pilot with a background in computer programming. I just suck at working tools.

That sir appears to be the holy grail of the A-10C home cockpit world....WOW...if only I had the money to buy something like that and have someone work on it for me.

What he said! Wonder how long it will take to convert to an A10C rather than A. Just awesome though, I'd be happy even if it never would work, I can make gun, bomb and missile sounds all day in that!

Looks like an Old A-10A Simulator Pod. However I could be Mistaken. Either way that is a hell of a find and I wish you luck in restoring it to its glory I will follow this thread

I think it is a sim, possibly not even a flight sim pod. The artificial horizon seems replaced by a decal. Possibly something to train on systems?

WOW. Where are you, hepkat? I'd bet you could find a number of folks here who'd gladly lend a hand.

Well, on the side it says it's an A10 Situational Awareness trainer. The guy who owns it is an ex-fighter pilot and pulled a few strings to get it. You're right, lots of decals on this. However, what's so amazing is that 80% of those panels have actual switches in them...including *gulp* the transponder!! It's just a matter of wiring them up.

As far as my location, is that smart to post here? However, approximate location is Alberta, Canada.

More pics to come as I have time. PM me if you're interested in lending a hand. I think it's going to be a real fun build.

Wow, just 4 posts and already a nice serving of good old paranoia... smile
Don't the controls have potentiometers on them already?

Well I think he's saying that the switches are real but not wired to anything I'm guessing the HOTAS is just a dummy since it's designed to familiarize a new pilot with his corner office.

Awareness trainer. These days it's called a procedures trainer. You can familiarize yourself with the cockpit layout.
We practice emergency procedures and flows before getting in the real sim. Great find. Every now and then these things
pop up on Ebay. Having an inside connection is priceless. keep us posted on your progress.

You would have to put a warthog in there for sure? If he wants that for a sim it's a sure thing he will have dcs a10 on it so he's going to want the right stick with DMS, TMS etc and that solves your pots.

If your going to spend the money on the EPIC system Then purchasing the Warthog HOTAS redundant but you do get the grip and the throttle. Personally I would go with all military original hard ware but hey that is what i am doing i sent you a pm al so good luck

Hi!

Have a look on this :
Two MS FFB2 merged into one with Cougar Grip

Should give you enough inspiration how to add realistic FFB in your build.

BTW: what's the status of this pit?
