WOW! Just double that WOW! and factor it to the max! That was a SciFi game of my life time! I am a huge fan of I-WAR 1 & 2 but it took second place to ME2! As I have mentioned before in this forum, we just need ME2 to have I-WAR elements and I am in Space/Sci-fi game heaven! I am replaying it again!

Just finished it yesterday. Even the load screens were nice, much better than the endless elevators of ME1. Nicely produced in every way. What I wouldn't give to have that attached flight sim of the Normandy.

I didn't like how the inventory management and character levelling was mainstreamed a bit in ME 2 but in every other way, ME 2 was superior to ME 1.
THX-1138, I'm sure you recognized the voices of Tigh and Six in the game?

It took me a couple of conversations to nail Six's voice but did not get Tigh's! Was he Garrus? I did get The Elusive Man being Martin Sheen and Grunt's voice is Michael Dorn; did not get the others. What a great game!

What a great game! Michael Hogan did the voice of the security captain on the Citadel. I forgot his name.

O.K., yes makes sense now! Did you get the multiple references made within ME2 of other classic Sci-Fi movies and TV shows?

Did you get the multiple references made within ME2 of other classic Sci-Fi movies and TV shows? I think I noticed a few. 1. The whole thing with the Geth (Cylons) being AI created which later on turned out to evolve and rebel and destroy the home planet of the Quarians (Colonials) was quite obviously an homage to BSG. 2. The Citadel and the way it works and looks is VERY reminiscent of Babylon 5. 3. The Collectors look VERY similar to the aliens in Space, Above & Beyond.

How do you guys feel about the system in ME2 to collect the resources? I never quite got used to it, it takes way more time to look for resources. Loved the game despite of it though, in the process or replaying it for ME3 Yeah it did get tedious after a while going to every planet and launching several probes one at a time.

Panzer,
I am aware that ME 2 is a great Sci Fi game because it "stands on the shoulders of giants" as our friend Sir Isaac Newton once said.
Here are others,
- The cut scene when coming into Omega you can see similar flame towers used in Blade Runner - Omega club called "Afterlife" is a copy of the "Taffey Lewis" night club where Deckard later calls Rachel in the movie "Blade Runner" - Jeff "Joker" Moreau tells EDI that he hopes that she will not start singing "Daisy Bell" (reference to HAL9000 in "2001: A Space Odyssey") soon after taking over the Normandy - The male engineer is "Scottish" as in "Scotty" in Start Trek - Original Series - "Grunt" also has many traits of a Klingon from Star Trek series. - The crew jump to the Normandy cut scene similar to the movie "Sunshine" - Reference to Sci-fi movie "Event Horizon" when aboard the "collectors" ship - "Jack" is a similar character to "Riddick" - "Legion" has elements of cold calculated responses similar to the Vulcan in the Star Trek series. - "The Illusive Man" definitely is a mix of "Cancer Man" from X-Files and "G-Man" from Half-Life.
Vertigo1,
ME2 = Mass Effect 2
Lieuwe,
I liked the resource collection method since you needed to survey the planets that sometimes had interesting missions.

Yup, the very first thing that came to my mind was Smoking Man from the X-Files.

I am slowly trying to finish ME1 and take Qual my character (soldier who I am working into a sniper) into 2 to finish ready for 3 but I am finding it hard as I loved 2 so much more.

I kind of liked 1 more. It was more RPG whereas 2 is more shooter.

Can't argue with that, you are correct but it seems to be just that bit to slow for me at this point, maybe I am judging it to early. 2 is alot prettier as well and I get a kick out of just admiring the environments you find your self in.

I think it might be hard to go back to 1 after 2, it would probably seem incredibly slow. I've gone back to 2 to finish it and I forgot how the weapons have no real ratings. Drives me nuts! Forgot how much I like this though.

Interesting to read the different reactions to ME 1. I never felt ME 1 was slow at any point during my playthrough.

OK, you guys are making me decide! Get ME1 and play it and then run ME2 again (with ME1 imported character) just to get ready for ME3 that should be coming soon? Where do we leave The Witcher 2 and Deus Ex 2?!

Current release date has ME 3 coming out in December so you have plenty of time.

Got Deus Ex on my steam wishlist - going to have it ready to rock on unlock day not trying to hijack the ME thread.... But with regards to Deus Ex - i will reserve my judgement. After the travesty that was DX:IW I will definitely wait until after release to see how it really pans out. And if eidos has anything to do with it, waiting a while may be a good idea - by that time the critical patch that makes the game playable will be released. ------------

To keep things on track - I am going to need the December date as my progress in ME1 is way slow, think I will have to knuckle down and try and enjoy the game with all thoughts of ME2 banished from my mind and just enjoy the game for what it is without the comparisons to ME2 affecting my enjoyment.

Take your time with it. I didn't remember being so far along in ME2 when I picked it back up again. Decided to get the dlc missions last night to keep it going.

Yep, amazing game, just finished it this week. 65 hours, went everywhere, did all the dlc, left the shadow broker until after the suicide mission, got everyone through alive.
Absolutely brilliant experience.
