I cannot even start the installation. I have searched the forums.

Windows 7 64 bit. Set compatibility mode to xp sp3 . click on the install icon in the disk directory. Have tried to install as administrator and not. same results. Whirring disk but nothing. Cant even get as far as an install screen. Im in New Zealand so I assume I have the securom version.

Hope someone can help. stalled right at the start.

I think you need to browse your DVD and look for the actual setup file for your language version. The autorun function doesn't work with Vista and Win7 anymore and I had to manually start the installation, too.

Just get it on gog.com, flawless install (u don't have to set compatib.), no copy protect. works with my win7.64, don't install to programs, best $9 in the 1l2fb saga I have spent

Forget compatibility mode, run the a.exe on the disc, if it doesn't work from there copy the disc contents to your desktop and try from there then use the official nocd patch.

Exactly, use a.exe . I used compat mode for XP SP3 though too and also did that for all the patches I installed and it worked just fine smile

Thanks for this info. I'll try it again today.

I am sorry I am a week late

I am in the US but have the Australian release of 1946- I pre-ordered it so that's what I got

I had no issues on Vista (but would only install from the .exe on disk), but when I tried installing on Win7 64 bit (from the .exe of course), the disk spun and the installation seemed to begin, then the window disappeared, and then- nothing! Spin spin spin...nothing. After a few minutes of the DVD drive spinning noisily I removed the disk, and then had lunch. On my return, the PC had told me that it couldn't install 1946 because no disk was present

I was using no compatibility modes; in my experience with Vista and Win7 it has never netted results

I put the disk back in and clicked "OK". Spin spin spin, for five minutes or more. I let it go, and left the room. Ten minutes later I returned and the sim was installing

The first part of my experience sounds very similar to yours, silent-one, although we had different solutions. I too wondered if it was securom causing the problem

What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen
