Glad you like it Flyboy. They are not my videos...I was surfing Youtube and ran into them. I'm still waiting for A10 to come out at the stores so I'm in no hurry but being a rotorhead I could not resist! biggrin

Are you called 'Gunfighter' after the AC-130 guys in Comanche Gold? I took my name 'Flyboy' from what Iron Troop calls the Comanche crews in that sim!

No, I took the name after the VF-124 Gunfighters. I just attached a 6 to it. I started doing flight sim since the days of Sublogic "Jet" which most of you guys here won't even know what I'm talking about.

Ironically, there was a friendly fire incident in 1991 involving the Apache crew in Iraq and the commander's callsign for that day was Gunfighter6. LOL

I thought your name came from the movie Flyboy. LOL

Yeah, me too Eagle. My only hope now is CH....but I'll take anything the DCS folks put out. I actually don't mind the A model since I like to pilot more than gun. I'll leave all that electronics and MFDs stuff to you younger guys, just give me the stick time. LOL

Waiting for $ for a new mobo before I start reinstalling everything...including Blackshark.

I did get Apache Air Assault for my xbox but now I'm thinking I should have gotten it for the PC instead.

BattleLab - hey, those are really cool hi-res videos. Are you in the ANG or just somehow visited and was able to shoot those great videos? Also, I'm curious as to how you found these forums and knew your videos were linked from here?

Hello Flyboy,

If you have a video up on Youtube you have tools to track where links get posted. Saying that, I was very famliar with SimHQ before that and thought that if anybody could find use for my videos, it would be someone in the Sim/Game community.

We are like minded in development- Working on similiar things
smile

I have a childhood friend who is a flight instuctor in the US ANG.

I have a YouTube Channel too but never knew about the tracking. Well it's nice that you finally decided to join and start posting.

Really? What are 'we' developing? What are 'we' working on? Something I don't know about here!?

Cheers for the explanations, BattleLab. If anyone knows anything about me around here it's that I ask a lot of questions!

Hello Flyboy,

Thanks for the warm greetings to start posting smile

On the mater of details... I apologies for peaking your interest. It seams cruel of me now to leave you hanging, but I can't release too much information now. But do promise to release more info when I am authorized to do so.

I took video and pictures that day for reference to build a 3d model of the Apache for use in a real time game environment.

Maybe it would be better for me to look for existing Apache 3d models, but I have found little in anything from the standpoint of usable Apache cockpits in different versions A or D.

Also was wondering what the best resource for cockpit digital readouts and functionality? My buddy only had access to the Apache A model for me and was restricted on saying anything about its operation and flight controls.

Thank you,

Robert-

For the A-model that's easy, as the flight manual is publicly available on the internet (e.g. at http://www.tpub.com/content/ahapache/TM-1-1520-238-10/index.htm). So don't see why your friend had to be so secretive.

For the D-model it's much harder though, as there the flight manuel is still classified.

BattleLab - I'm a bit confused, what do you have to wait for authorization on releasing info for? Why are you looking to make a 3D model of an Apache? Are you starting your own sim or something?

And about that link arneh sent you, wouldn't you just love to have the PDF version of that manual, instead of having to navigate a poorly-designed website? biggrin

Don't worry about getting me all interested, I am known to be a bit, shall we say, 'enthusiastic' over anything to do with the Longbow especially! wink
