Dunno how many are even interested in this show...though I enjoy it, the "resistance" was made up of people with no clue how to be partisan fighters...but season 2 might be better!

Doubt it. The show pretty much sucks. HEROES at its worst was better than V is at its best.

My guess is there won't be a season 3, but I'll watch S2 if only to see Diana and Marc Singer again!

Started watching the dvd's and it really is kind of dull. However, saw the season ender replayed the other night and it looks like they may be getting ready to crank things up for some action. I'll probably check it out. Sometimes these things are just slow the first season to set it up, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. For now. LOL

Dull in that nothing much was happening or dull in that the characters weren't interesting?

Characters just aren't very interesting, and seems to be the same dialogue over and over.
Anna and her crew just seem very typical bad guys. Pinky and the Brain-like. Tonight, we try to take over the world! They speak in macros, snide and condescending...just not very deep or believable.
The cliffhanger however, did seem that there may be some direct conflict upcoming which would liven it up quite a bit.

How old were you when the original miniseries came out in 1984? I was 12 years old and I was glued to the tv when I watched V. I watched it again a couple years ago and while the overall story is still good, there are lots of 80's cheese moments.

I keep expecting horns to spew out of her cheekbones or something. LOL She does a good job though.
The show is well cast, and it's not *bad* it's just kind of bland. Better than no sci fi though.
Some fresh writing and directing would do it wonders.

I watched the season premier and it was pretty awful outside of a couple of scenes. At this point I am watching this show to see what new levels of crap it can reach.

Wow you guys just don't like anything do you? The original though I watched it pretty much was as cheesy as it comes. For it's time was interesting enough to watch but went hand in hand with the kind of acting on Dukes of Hazard and Knight Rider, Ho Hum, and it got worse as it progressed. This one at least has better sets and isn't nearly as predictable as it's predecessor. Your right though it'll get cancelled because it's not RealWorld/Idol/Celebrity Crackheads.

I love how ABC isn't making the show available online for those of us without cable TV to watch. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot. nope

Where's Robert Englund? There's got to be a Robert Englund cameo somewhere.

I'm half way with this show. It has a great potential, but something about it drags down to mediocrity. For example - Ty's father. They spent half an episode with that red herring. Unnecessary.

Sci-Fi right now on tv is a very tough sell. The great majority of people just dont seem interested in the genre.

I think that was the reason that the Tests came back the way they did, and why Tye's father believes he is NOT Tye's Biological father. The V's messed with Erica and Erica's Baby before he was born.

Me too.

I also liked The Middleman. Canceled after 1 season but very witty and fast paced.

I am watching V but it plods along and feels dated.

Lets hope this gets picked up for a third season!

According to what I've read online from tv show industry experts, it is highly unlikely that V will get a third season.

I did actually watch the 2nd season to the end but had decided not to watch the 3rd. I am not surprised it has been canceled.

As a general question about seasons, do they decide how many seasons a show will have before production or play it by ear?
I would really like to see a fixed amount of seasons. I couldn't believe it after watching "Lost" for a couple of seasons and then reading it was going to run for 6, was that always the intention?

As a general question about seasons, do they decide how many seasons a show will have before production or play it by ear?
I would really like to see a fixed amount of seasons. I couldn't believe it after watching "Lost" for a couple of seasons and then reading it was going to run for 6, was that always the intention?

They used to, but these days they are much more...flexible?!?

What an awful finale... mostly weak season... and just a missed opportunity of a show in general. Why not have those final few minutes as like episode 6 of season 1? This show is just too boring. Every week is a new opportunity for the humans to FAIL and the V to be one step ahead.

ZzzzzzzZzzzzzz.

FYI, the show has not been canceled. It hasn't been renewed either.

Good question. The way it usually works with American tv networks is that a pilot episode will be ordered first and if that gets the kind of ratings the network was expecting then it will usually order 1 season which can be anywhere from 13-20 episodes. If that first season does well in ratings then it will most likely be renewed for a second season. So I guess the answer is the latter option "play it by ear".

Sometimes the creators of a show will envision it to run 5 seasons but of course it will only get to run that long if it has the required viewership numbers.

True but I'd say that there is a miniscule chance it will be renewed.

Personally I'd judt as soon they renew V and get rid of that awful "The Event" which has the worst acting and even less of a story, at least I find V interesting and want to see more The Event I can hardly force myself to watch.

I'd say it is about 40/60. ABC is currently in last place and ad revenue has increased per rating point this year. So, it COULD be renewed and still be profitable.

I can honestly say after all these episodes that I'm still on the fence as to whether this show should go on or not.
They at least did a good job in thinking up a different reason for the visitors' arrival than "man as food" and stealing our water like the original series, but at the same time the hints they've dropped as to the actual reason leads me to believe when they finally reveal it we'll all just say "that's it?"

The thing that gets me about V is that there is no internet in the future. If hideous aliens came to earth now disguised as humans it would be simple expose 1 on YouTube and all hell would break lose. attack

Isn't the plan to use humans to create an army of super-humans to help the V?

Heh... if I was the show runner on V, I would have had the alien's reason for coming to Earth to enslave humanity for any number of reasons (who cares why? Enslave them and move on!)

I would have gotten to the rebellion much quicker (fifth column or whatever) and made the humans smarter and more capable. This whole bliss crap is stupid and I would have shot the writer who suggested it. But I would have made the V like LOTR elves. Super shiny and pretty. And do away with the whole lizard thing. They look like us... they are hawt... and they EAT YOUR BABIES!

So, to repeat, "that's it?"

It's obvious they're dying out. It's clear they want to cross-breed with humans even though apparently human + V = V with super powers??

I must say of the "deaths" in the finale, the one that shocked me the most at first made the most sense in the big picture because it seemed like they had no real function left other than to be an easily-manipulated stooge for Anna. I just wanted to punch them in the face everytime something stupid came out of that pie-hole.

Regarding the "plan"

Click to reveal..

The plan isn’t to simply cross breed humans, they said they messed with the DNA of several boys (Tyler being one of them) and stripped their DNA and made gaps,

Then they took the most advanced humans on the mother ship via the live aboard program, these subjects had advanced dna attributes, and the Vs took their DNA and made one Advanced DNA Strand using the pieces from the subjects , they then made an Injection for the Boys with the missing DNA Pieces to make one Perfect (or near Perfect) DNA Strand.

Supposedly this is how they “evolve” they steal advanced DNA from species and combine it with their own.

STEALING DNA and Mixing with their own?, can You say BORG?, lol.

Taking DNA from Multiple Subjects and making one injection.. Can You Say Danny Devito / Twins… The Sperm Milkshake as it were.

And V has already been cancelled per the Writers Blog... will dig for a link when I get home from work, it was announced that it would not be renewed a while ago when they shorted the 2nd season episode count.

They did cut the order but no announcement regarding cancellation has been made. In fact, the show runner and the actors are all sitting around waiting for ABC to make a decision so they can move forward.
