Posting any default X-Plane scenery is a joke. This is what my X-Plane world looks like. Have over 6tb of photoreal scenery like this.

MS Flightsim is a scenery simulator. X-Plane is a flight simulator.

I believe Lockheed Martin thought the same when they bought ESP code and made Prepar3d, both based on FSX codebase, and even cross-compatible wink

Why XPlane users hate FS so much?

Funny you say this, I thought it was the other way around. No matter to me, I like them both.

I post quite regularly on the Sim-Outhouse and Polish flight simulation forum, users on both of them are using FS9/FSX almost exclusively, but some people post news from XPlane camp from time to time, I haven't found hatred towards them yet. Some people admit, they don't like XPlane, that's true, but it's quite natural I think, I'm not a big fan of Il-2 series for example. Try to post anything positive about FS on X-Plane.org and you'll get answers like this:

Quote:
MS Flightsim is a scenery simulator. X-Plane is a flight simulator.

Or even worse.

Well, it's what you're looking for in a flightsim. If its about procedures, tubeliners etc. then MSFS is the winner. If it's about general flight I think X-Plane is better. Flight model is better in X-Plane but both are not that good, if I understand correctly, in certain situations that any real pilot tries to avoid anyway. And for a layman like me, the MSFS Flight model is "good enough".

I'm not quite sure where to start with this one...

First, in the title you want us to compare FSX (released 4 years ago...) to X plane 10, which hasn't been released.
-BUT- then you provide a link to MS flight, which also hasn't been released, and is a loooooong ways off from release, as opposed to XP10, which looks to be due in 2011 (fingers crossed!). So your either ignorant of what's going on the MS flight sim franchise,
-or- made one dusey of a typo in your thread title,
-or- wanted to start a flame thread comparing apples to oranges..while using information about bananas and mangoes.

The MSFS/xplane debate will range for decades to come. The real winner will always be people like me, who own both wink. I play FSX now because I like eye-candy, and becasue of the three main tasks that flying involves: aviate, navigate, communicate, MS does a great job of illustrating the last two. It shows you how various airspace classes interact, how ATC works, and how navigation systems work. Wanna rap your mind around VOR's and how to engage with flight following, play FSX to get an idea. It still can't replace real world experience, but FSX will help cement these concepts.

To put a bow on it though, it seems the two franchises might finally see a state of symbioses. If X-plane 10 sees the light of retail this year(pretty please?), and runs well, then it will get some deserved attention due to MS flight being so far off. By the time MFS sees shelves, Xplane 11 should be well under way. If the two can leap frog, we might be lucky enough to see a fresh civy flight sim every two years smile

The X-Plane vs MSFSX debate was over years ago. X-Plane lost on bad grammar and terrible spelling.

the article only compares FSX to X plane 8.5.

...and the debate continues. lol

I'm actually going to try some of their tests in RoF/CoD (when it comes out), it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

It's hard to know who is right when everyone is claiming they are right. All I know is that FS9 and FSX fall apart as soon as you put the Extra 300 on a knife edge and put in the rudder. It sinks like a stone. I'm not saying X-Plane is better at everything, it most certainly isn't..but it sure feels more fluid and lifelike than the rather stiff FSX offerings.*

* I have no graphs, charts, or empirical evidence to back up this statement. So don't ask. wink
