Want to see what you think is the best WW2 sim ? Am looking for great graphics first , then MP , then flight model . Could care less about missions , single player stuff . Europe And Pacific theater . Thought it would be IL2 but they don't have German cockpits .

Inline advert (2nd and 3rd post)

"they don't have German cockpits". What? Bf-109, Bf-110, Fw-190, Ju-87, He-111, Ju-88, Me-292 etc, etc... (in umpteen different versions for the fighters).

Still, if you think that 'great graphics' are more important than 'flight model', IL-2 is probably not for you. It is an air combat simulation, not pointless eye-candy. duh

Most of the available WW2 sims are growing 'long in the tooth', the best graphics available in the genre is Wings of Prey. It is certainly wonderful-looking, runs very well even on older systems, and is very scaleable in terms of difficulty. Flight modelling in WoP is supposed to be derived from Il-2. Unfortunately the multiplayer system seems to be quite troublesome, but as I only fly off-line I wouldn't be very knowledgeable about it.

Don't have German cockpits?!! I've got to know where you heard that. U.S., German, British, Japanese, Russian, Italian, French, and even Romanian airplanes, all with their own cockpits. (Did I leave anybody out?).

For grafics: get Wings of Prey.

For everything else: get IL-2: 1946.

Hopefully, SOW will be the answer to that question...but how many of us will still be around to agree? old_simmer

At the moment IL2 1946.. WoP looks good .. and flies decently but until it comes up with a better multiplayer and some kind of mission builder it is quite handicapped IMO.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

Easy way to tell if a sim is good is to just look at the number of viewers on each forum...IL2 consistently stays high in viewership, which means it is a damn good sim.

I have WOP, which does look great, but you can see from the viewership that it is limited and people have lost interest. You can also tell that Rise of Flight is a very good sim due to all the people following it.
