Just picked it up. Have been waiting for the price to come down on this. Sale lasts till tomorrow (at least in Canada) 12/24.

picked this one up as well, love the SH series.

I picked it up for about $14 just now as I like WWII era weaponry but do not know much about naval warfare as it seems to be a relic of WWII, let alone submarine warfare. So I went on a limb and spent $13.59 on the gold edition today, perhaps I can polish up even more on my WWII history by trying out this game.

Although I do not understand how a subsim can be fun, can someone explain what thrills you about this game?

It's the hunt.
Getting into a good firing position undetected.
Avoiding depth charge attacks.
One of my favourites is sneaking into a shallow harbour and attacking ships in there and then getting out in one piece.

Although I have to say,out of the box it is still playable,once you start adding mods you can make it as realistic as you like and improve it no end.

A big factor is that I find Subs fascinating so I have a real interest in the game.
When I mention to my game playing mates that I play a Sub sim they start making 'ping' noises and take the p**s but I don't care

Hmm, Steam only shows it for $24.99, must have been a limited event. If I could find it for $10.00, would definitely purchase it.

Ubisoft has quietly disabled that dratted always-on internet DRM as well.

Now that's really good news. You would think they'd advertise that a bit to win back the potential customers they lost in the first place...
