The planetset is not dictated by historical requirements, but by commercial requirements. I wonder how many in WWI said the same thing!

We've already stated that it's going to be the Gotha.
Jason Stop it with the facts Jason!! Don't you know the fun is all in the baseless speculation??

Jason Maybe the thread could be retitled, "new" aircraft for ROF rather than next

What always surprises me is, as the DH9 was a vastly superior machine to the RE8 and FK8 and was available in large numbers, why the Brits didn't replace the corps machines with the DH9?
Anything harder to fly than the BE2c seems to have been regarded with intense suspicion by the army corps pilots, army pilots seem to have beeen more concerned with the possible dangers of their own aircrafts handling than being killed by the enemy. The corps pilots didn't like the RE8 initially as it was percieved to be a dangerously handling machine, preffering the FK8 as it was easier to fly. The RE8 wasn't dangerous, just slightly more manouverable than the BE2c which doesn't say much. From reading Peter Harts books you get the picture that corps pilots often weren't the natural flyers, I suspect the obviously talented pilots were fed into the scout squadrons. In 1918 RE8s were still getting the obsy job done, albeit with heavy casualties. Available DH9s seem to have been pushed into the day bombing meat grinder. It'd be interesting to see how many were on station at one time as IAF (a sort of WW1 bomber command created in 1918) bomber casualty rates seem to have been huge, pilots seem to viewed an IAF transfer order like a death sentance.

Its sleek, exciting, gorgeous, and by most accounts fast and maneuverable for its type. Didn't MvR get his start in this AC as a gunner? Hello, My comment is a little off the subject of next planes but just FYI, MvR flew the LFG Roland C.II as a pilot with Kasta 8 in spring, 1916, when these planes first arrived at the front. He was never an observer/gunner in this make/model.

I love the fish motif on that Roland. Very nice! It was nicknamed the Walfisch for a reason!

Technically, Walfish, (whale), is not a fish... This is a plane, among others, I would definately, like to see in RoF.

I just saw pics of the Gotha on our first inspection of the model. Looks gorgeous. You will all love it.
