Eight rigged the pilot canopies on fighters and attack planes to open and close to the flaps. This means whether you are inside or outside viewing, the same command controls them. At speeds where the flaps can operate, they will deploy and the canopy will open...more for the second notch of flaps. At speeds above flap speed, you can open the canopy but the flaps will not deploy.

There is, of course, an exception. The Ki-43-I (and later the -II) had combat flaps, called "butterfly" flaps, that could open at high speed. To preserve this ability, the canopy on the Hayabusa only opens on landing flaps or the second notch.

Bombers have other commands. Gunners, Navigators, Observers have other commands listed at the bottom of the Mission Briefing.

We have a way to make them work more smoothly on the inside view but we cannot get it to sync with the outside view.
