I bought it a couple of days ago and so far am very impressed with it. Plays a lot like the old "War in Russia", although much more comfortable due to a very nice GUI.

It's still a very complex game and the way some information is presented indeed is a bit clunky, but so far with my limited experience it's still very playable, despite the immense depth. I'll probably do an AAR if I find the time over the weekend.

Man, in the short scenarios, as the Germans, you can inflict MASSIVE casualties and if you are a tad too deliberate you lose the victory. I mean like 300,000 to 8,000...in 3 weeks. It is pretty cool. I think it would be fantastic if they could expand this model to a North Africa game, etc. I don't think it would work for the Pacific, but who knows. It's really, really fun!

Pretty good stuff.

Actually there is already a wargame from Gary Grigsby set in the PTO; "War in the Pacific".

I have and play WitP and WiTP AE a ton. I love those games. WITP is easily the game that has been on my computers the longest. But they're not the same game. Much less micromanagement in this versus WITP.

I am seriously considering this. I’ve never played a ‘proper’ operational war-game, but have a ton of tactical RTS / Civ, etc experience and a lifelong interest in WW2 & the eastern front. Christ, most of our servers at work are named after German or Russian armoured vehicles because of me wink

I’ve always fancied a bash at something like this as I m not the sort to be intimidated by manuals or complex systems, ( I prefer DCS to ROF).

It may be time to break my duck. But the price! £63 (£100). Yikes. That’s 3 x what I’ve paid for any game, (more than Zelda on the N64 back in the day).

I appreciate the irony of this situation as I’ve dished out a load of stick to people on the ED forums for balking at the supposed ‘high’ price of DCS: A-10, and here I am patting my pockets.

I wish there was a demo. Still, it is payday........and she’s bought some shoes.......

I pushed the button yesterday.

I just finished the nicely done tutorial/tutorial manual combo. The full electronic manual is daunting to say the least. shower After finishing I feel like I still don't know squat. Lots to learn...........

Dude, I did the same on the manual. I basically played a bunch of the 'road to' campaigns and then have been playing with the grand campaign (I'm on try number 4 now on that!).

Well, I’ve not stopped playing since day1. It’s definitely worth it in terms of hours played, etc. This will last for years IMO. First proper hex strat game I’ve ever played and I am hooked.

Not looked at DCS-A-10 for a fortnight and feeling guilty.

130 miles from Moscow and clouds in the east.........getting colder.....gulp.
