This is worse than I anticipated. Tanner Faust isn't bad and has a good bit of tv experience, but where did they get these other 2 guys? Pretty lame copy of the tv-greatness of the real Top Gear.

This is worse than I anticipated. Tanner Faust isn't bad and has a good bit of tv experience, but where did they get these other 2 guys? Pretty lame copy of the tv-greatness of the real Top Gear. I would score the TG U.S. show at 70%! It has potential imho, ymmv http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3095418/Top_Gear_BBC_America.html#Post3095418we have some comments in the real world racing forum so I will just copy my comments: After watching the first episode I wondered if I would have enjoyed the American TG if I was not familiar with the BBC TG. yeah, TF (Richard Hammond equivalent? - the sexy one) besides his going on and on about drifting (full dicslosure - I only enjoy drifting in very very very small doses) I liked this host. And what is up with the NJ/NY tough guy? - his jokes were flat and awful, otherwise he is a likeable host. LOL I liked the geek (Brian May equivalent?) host. I enjoyed the gunship chase (some crazy-arse flying!) and the Lambo racing bits. The interview with Buzz Aldrin seemed edited so much that he was only giving one word answers when asked about cars he has owned? I do like the test track and having the minimap showing the car's location on the track during the lap is a nice feature. The audience seemed to be made of only young persons...I was hoping for a mix of folks like on the original show (but the studio audience probably mirrors the desired audience of 20-30yo?). Overall, I found the show to be decent. I will continue watching the show and see if there are many changes to my liking.

Watched both the US and Aussie versions and they pale in comparison to the UK show. The UK hosts just totally make that program in my opinion. The Americans and Aussies just don't come anywhere close. There's just not the same kind of chemistry between the hosts. Having said that, I think the US show was slightly less awful than I expected. The interview was horrendously awful though. Doubtful I'd watch the show again.
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

I think HogDriver said it well.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

I just gave a few minutes....
and then I saw Rutledge Wood. He is change the channel material when he's on Speed and he's no better on here. I like Tanner Faust from the shows he's done on Speed, the Supercar show he does with Paul Tracy is funny, maybe they should have got PT to be one of the hosts, even though he's Canadian.
Thankfully I have many episodes of the real Top Gear on DVD.

If they could get some hosts with some chemistry and character then maybe it wouldn't be so bad. These three guys look like they don't know each other at all so even the little jabs don't work. Heck, rather than Rutledge maybe get Michael Waltrip...at least he's kind of funny sometimes. Hell, Boris Said would have been better...heh.

I'm amazed they didn't make the test track a drag strip. A lot of straight line stuff going on, every few minutes they turn. Watching one now, it's not any better than the other one, other than the downhill skiing part. The least-funny guy said he was a comedian too.
edit: I take that back, the blind guy drifting thing and coaching was pretty impressive. Alternatively, a car show host that couldn't do a burnout is pretty pathetic. The seeing eye dog peeing on stage was classic. LOL

Top Gear is a show about cars, Top Gear USA is a show about glomming onto Top Gear's popularity, and therein lies the problem.

Top Gear USA sucks... If they really wanted to make a Top Gear in the US they should of just brough the crew over from the UK to film it.
These morons they have on the show now just have zero skills and no chemistry. Absolute trash TV...

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Every time I watch Top Gear I am amazed at the editing, the creativity, and the work that goes into making that show. The logistics alone are astounding.
I was talking to some lads from work (here in the US) and most of them had never even heard of what might be the greatest TV show on earth.
...reckon not everyone has cable.

I watched an episode of real Top Gear last night to cleanse the US version from the brain. The "serious" Ford Fiesta road test, a classic segment if there ever was one.

That was a good one. The bit recently with the Robin Reliant had us laughing almost to the point of blacking out. LOL
Taking those Astons on a dry lake bed bordered on sacrilege.
