Very cool!

This sim looks more and more like it should be called: "IL-2 Sturmovick 2"

Looks like a huge map, I wonder how scaled down it is in game, such as flying time and fuel consumption across the channel ect.

As above, it's not.

That should give 109's only twenty minutes over Southern England in full real servers, I guess the dogfight severs will be busy then lol.

As it's a 1:1 map there should be plenty of modders re-creating towns as they were in 1940 etc. hopefully. smile

Yeah, it certainly has alot of familiar looking features with the current FMB, and lots of new stuff too.

Scripted Spawn??

It's not the Pacific, so flying time shouldn't be too much of an issue, though if you are in an Emil, the short legs are a factor. In the 352nd Channel map, which is 1:1 the Channel takes ten minutes to cross from Le Havre to Dover. By the time I have formed up on my flight leader's wing, trimmed the kite and finished looking around the cockpit, we're in bandit country. That's the great thing about a Battle of Britain scenario, you're never too far from danger!

That should allow anyone familiar with IL-2's FMB to become proficient with this FMB fairly quickly. boing

I haven't seen that map, in fact I haven't flown Il2 for four years except for one time in which I was rammed head on in a dogfight server by a testosterone filled teenage brat who immediately gave me a dressing down. So I retreated to my piper cub and the pretty hills of Interlaken in fsx thoroughly shaken by my ordeal. ahoy

I myself can't stand small maps. There's going to be more than that one big map though.

Looking forward to some great third party campaigns, something with a bit more flavour than the usual vanilla in-game dynamic mission generator. Loved the stuff done for IL-2 like Compans' 32 Squadron campaigns, Icefire's Tempest campaign and Cobra427's "Hurricane Season" and "Spittin' Fire".

Cheers!

A 1:1 map should give some incentive to fly multi-engine planes. I am quite irritated over Spitfires flying from Sicilly to Firenze and back sigh
I just hope that SEOW can be made to work with SOW biggrin

Will we EVER get a real Rainbow Six game again. One for the real Tactic fans? A WWII sim with a dynamic campagn. Games with deept?
