Chunx came up with an idea to follow the new, real ILMC that I think is so strong and fits so well with our schedules that I'm going to go ahead and announce it as part of our 2011 plans. Now what we don't know yet is, will it be on rFactor or rFactor 2, and which mod and version, but ILMS 2.77P has the lead. Also, what length of the races. Most races will be 2.5 hours, but if rFactor2 has a successful reconnect feature, we might go for an extended race or one or two events. More news as we learn more, but mark your calendars now so SHE won't grab the date from you! Our race dates below are bolded. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------Intercontinental Le Mans CupTrack / Our Race Date / Actual Race Date / Length of Actual RaceSebring / March 20 / March 19 / 12 hour Spa / May 7 / May 8 / 6 hour Le Mans / June 5 / June 11-12 / 24 hour Imola / July 10 / July 3 / 6 hour Silverstone / September 4 / September 11 / 6 hour Road Atlanta / October 9 / Early October / 10 hour (date changed to not compete with the RL race)China (Track TBD) / November 6 / November 12 / 6 hour ---------------------------------------------------------------------------Daytona Sprint Cup RaceIn addition to the ILMC series, we will mirror some of the NASCAR events in 2011. Most likely with VHR 2011 (when it releases). The first event will be Daytona. Our Race Date / Actual Race DateFebruary 13 / February 20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------There will also be some "fill-in" races like the DTM 2008-2010 cars that Chunx is suggesting in the forum.

Excellent work guys. I love it. There's some good tracks in there which we haven't raced yet that should be popular - Sebring, RA, Silverstone etc. You can count my support for as many as i can physically attend I really hope the reconnect/driver swap feature works nicely in rF2. It would be amazing to get some even longer races with teams/driver swaps etc. You never know we might even be in a position to do a real LM24hr on June 5th I'll spread the word. Looking forward to 2011 already

I'm all for ILMS. For VHR I prefer to abstain, as I refuse to be a mobile chicane.

Very cool, like Darren I'll be in attendance as much as I can.
If I might, some Daytona Prototypes or classic Leman's racer's would be a nice filler during some of the off months.

Just checking, but if V_LM doesn't get their Sebring out before we race it, iDT has a nice version that came out awhile back. And there's a 2007 version of Road Atlanta, a port of GTR2's Imola, a 2010 version of Silverstone that goes into your rF "Northamptionshire" folder, etc. Could be good times! And if we wanted to throw in some ALMS tracks, I just tried a version of Mosport 2009 by Neil Jani that's pretty nice looking. And then of course, there's Laguna Seca and V_LM's Mid Ohio...

Am i right in assuming that the 3hr LM in Jan is cancelled? Right. I'm thinking rFactor 2 + longer endurance race for Le Mans. We'll have the F1 race on the 19th, Daytona and DTM starting next month, and a couple other special events. There's gotta be an off-season for the teams to re-energize.

I'm definitely going to be trying to make as many of these as I can. I love the ILMS cars. F1 is cool and all I just don't like playing that style of racing with chicanes, hairpins, 4,298 shifts per lap, etc. Just my personal tastes.

Found an issue or two: 1. Imola. I've only found one verion of Imola for rF. It's based on the version from GTR2 and the creator requires you to put your GTR2 disk into the PC when you install the track in to rF for copyright reasons (SimBin is apparently cool with this, to protect their IP rights). While that's no big deal for me, many others out there might not own a copy of GTR2, which could limit participation. Anyone know of another version of Imola for rF? 2. Road Atlanta. I've found a very nicely started 2007 version for rF, but it's a WIP Beta and has some graphical glitches. The track drives very nice (tried it with the DTM mod) but there are some mirror-like reflections in the grass, and free-floating track lights that defy gravity. Overall I think it'll work, but perhaps someone else knows of a later version for this track? 3. Shanghai. There's no problem with this track, really. It just sucks to drive. I wonder if Herr Tilke was on drugs when he designed it? (assuming here it's his design). Hoping that this won't be the China venue. The other tracks look good-to-go. I tried the 2010 version of Silverstone that plugs into ISI's "Northhamptonshire" track folder, and it works well. Perhaps there's a new bus-stop Spa to go with the newly revised LeMans modern track. And iDT makes a version of Sebring that should suit our needs if V_LM doesn't come through in time for the race weekend.

Following the ILMC schedule and venues is a fantastic idea. Most of the dates look good to me (as of now, of course).

Joe, give her a printed calendar with dates marked, and written on it "wanted to get this to you early so you'd know I am not available on these dates". The best defense is a good offense.

Doug, Been There Done That. My wife and I actually use a Google calendar now that we both update, and it works well. Every race date is now on it. I like the "good offense" approach, but I know that I am going to be working most weekends in September, October, and November. Work is work, and that's life. It just depends if I work and we race on the same day (Saturday vs. Sunday), which is something I won't know until August at the earliest.

The 1994 one I use is pretty good, although I haven't raced it at night... 2. I think there's a couple of good versions out there, I'm not sure which one I use but it doesn't have the mirror grass problem... 3. Either too much or too little... Not sure which... But you are correct that track does have a very artificial feel to it, more so then the other Tilkedromes... His best work in my opinion is still Turkey, closely followed by Korea...

I´ll second that the 94 Imola is quite nice however there are zero lights for night racing. At least not in the version I got from Race2Play.

I believe that the Shanghai circuit is the shape of a Chinese "shang" character (at least that's what I remember from SPEED TV announcers). Given that fact, I think the shape was predetermined. Might not be Tilke's fault, but there is still plenty offodder for claiming the track is not so great.

Tried it myself just then and there's no lights in the version I've got either... Nor is there the first 2 chicanes that were created after the 94 race... So it might not be the best representation of the ILMS series version...

I'd like for us to mix-up the times of the 2.5 (and longer) races so that some are run with 10x time compression, but some are just a long day at 1x. I do think if a race is at a specific track, we should use some variation of that track unless it has significant technical difficulties. For the 2.5 series we will have the same lead in time between races as we had last year, so there will be ample opportunity to test. We'll be fine. It definitely helps that several of you are doing recon on the tracks. Much appreciated!

Y'know, I appreciate you guys posting this race schedule well in advance. I mentioned it to my wife a few weeks ago and she was receptive to the idea. A couple of nights ago I went ahead and showed her the list and she started programming dates into the calendar on her cell phone. Win! I was definitely sure about the ILMS events, though I hope rFactor 2 doesn't come out TOO soon (money is pretty tight right now). I wasn't sure about VHR @ Daytona but as it turns out she's going to be out of the house that day taking our son to a birthday party so I'll have PLENTY of free time. Restrictor plate racing here I come. (next challenge: figure out how to adjust my seating/desk so that sitting for the length of that race won't kill me) Also, it's never too early to get started on the big stuff... Using the iDt version of Sebring that was mentioned early in the thread. I haven't done a Sebring race in...years. Let's just say the last time I ran a version of this track, it was in Papy's NASCAR Racing 3.

I'd love to participate in these races but I am crap at setting up a car. If anyone wants to throw a setup or two my way then I am in! I've been having a ball with the DTM races.

All the races in the past have been fixed setup so I don't think that'll be an issue - generally the philosophy has been, less time tinkering, more time racing.

Stewart, as Lugnut said, our ILMS series is fixed setup as is our VHRacing stock car events. We also have some special events where the tuners can get their spanners out, but those two series aren't a problem.

Stewart, Doug didn't mention, that there are usually helpful souls who share their setup. When I was setup-challenged well into last year (and with some mods I still am) I always got help from some of the best drivers here who willingly shared their setup.
But please keep in mind that a setup by an "alien" might not necessarily suit you. I recall some setups where I simply realised I just couldn't drive it. Then a stable and docile slower setup might work better for you for racing day.

Sadly 6th of Feb is our Superbowl party so can't make the race that weekend. Gives me some extra practice time for Brands Hatch though.

Our races will be over 3 hours before kickoff. Still a problem? Yeah. Being UK, Superbowl is 11:30pm kickoff and we're off out before 8:30. Ah well, I reckon I need plenty of practice to get abck into the swing anyway

And I assumed Brits only like Cricket, Rugby and Football (for North Americans: Soccer). Ok, the latter one only as long as you win at penalties vs. Germany Btw, I plan to watch the Superbowl as well...

My wife has now commented on the racing calendar, and is not pleased with 3 February weekends in a row dedicated to racing. As such, I believe I will be unable to compete in the Daytona VHR race. For the record, she much prefers the 'one race a month' format. Really, she'd prefer the 'no races, period' format, but that's another discussion.

So maybe we can start it a couple hours later? It would help Papa_K and any Oz residents too.

I will be missing the 2011 Nascar opener at Daytona on the 13th. Traveling that weekend. As much as I'd like to be there, its unrealistic to think I can be in every race.

Brad They will start at either 12 or 1 PM eastern US time (~ 1600-1700 GMT) probably on Sundays. The race length will be 2.5 hours plus 1/2 hour for practice /qualifying. If rFactor 2 arrives while the series is still running, we will switch to Saturday at the same approximate time for longer endurance races.

Any chance of an Indy 500 (or other distance) with a suitable mod,... CARTFactor for example?

Any chance of an Indy 500 (or other distance) with a suitable mod,... CARTFactor for example? I'd definitely support that! Regarding quality CARTfactor is probably the best suitable one afaik. But as an alternative, there are mods for IRL 2008 and 2009 as well (I haven't tried these yet) and Indycar '94 and '95 mods (pretty good in my book).

How about some Offroad truck racing? Now a day of that would be fun. Requires no practice, just jump in and go. Who else is interested? Same as Indy -- can we get enough interest? There are some new off-road tracks that would be fun.

A poll is a good idea Papa_K. Probably should do one for what we're going to do to fill in around ILMS after April. May through December is still open. Also, several guys are racing other leagues and iRacing so if our schedule gets too packed, that won't work either. One ILMS race each month and one special events race seems about "right". Comments appreciated and welcomed!

I always thought it would be quite fun to have a hill climb or TT style event where everyone takes turns to set their time. Somewhere like Targa Florio (if it ever gets released) would be ideal but there are other options and you could have one or two runs each depending on the length and number of entrants. Unfortunately rF doesn't handle stage racing terribly well (fixed in rF2 i believe) but it can still be done with a little planning.
I also fancy the idea of a 'team' event where you could pair two (or more) drivers of mixed ability and decide results based upon combined points.
Also how many people here have RBR? Is that something worth thinking about?

Bringing this thread back to provide an update. As you know, the SCES runs on these dates:Sebring / March 20 Spa / May 7 Le Mans / June 5 Imola / July 10 Silverstone / September 4 Road Atlanta / October 9 China (Track TBD) / November 6 We have the 1991 F1 race on April 3 and the Talledega VHR race on April 10Other special events up for consideration:Indy race (shortened) Aussie V8 race at Bathurst (full length) VHR Watkins Glen with the trucks VHR Texas (or Atlanta) Short series (3-4 races) being considered:new Meganes Eurocup series F2 classic series WTCC BMW E90 Hungarian Suzuki Bio Cup AE86 Club (still would like to run this if we can get the enthusiasm) We don't want the schedule to get so tight that enthusiasm dwindles because you feel like you're running a marathon, but have enough events that will keep participants busy. The poll is showing some distinct trends that really help with the planning. If you haven't voted yet, please do so. Thanks to everyone who took a few minutes to voice their opinions. The poll is here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3207200/Poll_SimHQ_Motorsports_May_thr.htmlOf course, when rFactor2 arrives we look at it all again. It looks to be a wealth of riches with probably so many new mods being released we'll have a smorgasbord.

As you can see (guod points to the top of this forum) the schedule has been updated.
This is based on comments in this thread, the PMs and suggestions I've received, and the Poll.
Comments and suggestions for revisions appreciated.

I'd be up for running at Indy, the Bathurst race, and the truck race at Watkins Glen for sure... I've never run the F2 mod so I might have to check that out before making a decision on that one...

All the special events sound cool. Particularly the V8's at Bathurst The new Meganes are great but not quite ready for prime time yet, but If we get a final version they will be a hit. Not tried the F2 mod yet but i've heard good things. I'm not a big fan of open wheelers but it seems they are under represented sometimes - nice to see them on there. Overall a good selection. Should be fun

If the latest Megane mod doesn't pan out in time... and even if it did: This might be a good dual-class racing opportunity in the Touring Car category. Meganes plus _____ (something else)? I'd have said "How about replacing the Meganes with a V8 Supercar mod" but I'm not sure. The FVR mod was iniitially very understeery (among other things... The mod-makers have added more upgrade options that do/will/can change this.) The latest ORSM mod, while no longer the "Auto-Spin" poster child of old (IMO), features massive power-on oversteer. It's to the point where staying on-throttle is How To turn the car, and to the point of being ridiculous (IMO) - while still being a fun drive (which may sound odd). Touch the throttle and the car rotates. Peddle-dance driving. Overall, compared to the FVR mod, the ORSM mod seems much more polished, but it's also a quirky throttle-on-driving mod, as mentioned above. The ORSM mod conveys more weight transfer and body lean, while the FVR mod reacts and feels like it's more tightly-sprung. For now, the FVR mod may be more simplistic, but with the latest upgrade options, it's also attempting to move into the "Better-Driving" V8 Supercar mod position. Which V8 Supercar mod would I rather sim-race online? Either one would work... but I'd lean towards ORSM.

Checking mods for Indy again. I've narrowed it down to CART Factor and the IndyCar 2009 mods.
I really like the CART Factor mod overall, but it would be a challenge. Adding some traction control might be needed to make it universally drivable. In superspeedway trim, it relatively easy to light up the rear tires. All the cars are not identical.
Not meaning it as a downgrade, the IndyCar 2009 mod is relatively easy to drive and easier to set up than CART Factor. All the cars are identical.
CART Factor is fun to drive, but it would also be a challenge. The IndyCar 2009 mod would be easier to jump into for a one-time race.

Either one sounds great.
I had a very fleeting look at CF many moons ago and remember being quite impressed. I know it's very well regarded throughout the community and I like the idea of different cars, particularly if we could persuade the faster guys to a slower ride.
On the other hand if it's too tricky then we could lose drivers...

The SimHQ calendar has been updated.
Primary changes are moving the Touring Car Series to 3 consecutive weeks, and the 1985 Classic F1 race at Paul Richard.
On the Touring Cars, while it was the highest rated cars in the poll, nobody had time/interest/energy to help with it. I'm reading that as bad timing so the race on the 15th has been pushed back.
We will have IndyCar practice races on Wed., May 11 + 18 and on Sat., 14 + 21 instead. Announcement and server access on the IndyCars will be right after Spa.
VHR. If there are enough people interested (as in, "speak up please") we MIGHT have a Sat., July 2 dusk to night race at Daytona. The actual race is that evening, US time.

If it's got wheels and an engine, i'll be there whenever possible but i'd dearly love another VHR race, I know attendance isn't great but there's a very passionate minority that would hate to see them disappear. Touring car wise, the Magane's weren't ready for prime time yet but there are some other GREAT touring car mods that I know Doug needs help testing. If any of you can spare a little time over the next few days then it would be a big help in making these races happen.

The F1 1985 mod at Paul Ricard looks interesting. I hadn't tried that mod yet. Quoting wiki-dom: "This was the last time the entire Paul Ricard circuit was used for F1, in 1986 a shorter version was used after Elio De Angelis' fatal accident there during a testing session." For an '85 race, the longer Paul Ricard layout might be nice. Based on carrera4's '88 version, this one seems to work just fine: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Elio%20de%20Angelis%201975That's just a thought - The full layout has longer straights and would change the flavor of the race. From a quick try with the F1 1985 mod, the cars aren't the same, so the full track layout might favor a car with more power. The '88 version would need a pit-lane speedlimit adjustment. VHR? Any time, if able.

I second that, Papa_K. The 1985 F1 mod is fantastic.

Already updated with the topics. Still don't know if i can join the ILMS series because i'm having busy sundays usually. the wednesday night format works wonderfully for me but i think i'm gonna race the next STCCS race because they are usually shorter for what i can see. btw having some questions here: which new mods are you testing for the next series? i tried the Megane cup yesterday and what an amazing mod it is. same with the F1 1993 LE. in fact i wonder why do you guys chose the 1985 F1 mod over the 1993 LE. right now i'm doing separate installs of rFactor lite to try several mods. if you guys want me to try some mod, just tell me and i'll gonna download it and give a few test laps with it so i can give some feedback. Right now im downloading the lastest version of the Enduracers mod to test it against the ILMS 2.78. gonna try too the Historic GT and Historic Rally Cars mod, the Spec Miata (should be a nice beginner FWD series) and looking forward for recommendations or requests so i can give some helpful test track time to all of you, people.

which new mods are you testing for the next series? Next mod will be the F2 short series. All we are planning is on the calendar, and some of it is subject to change pending the release of rFactor 2.

thanks, guod. can you guide me to a download link for that mod? or are you guys preparing a modded release for the series? also, just came back from some test laps at toban with the Spec Miata 2.0. what a fun little car it is! i seriously encourage all of you to give it a shot, because i can see there some SCCA league material.

The F2 mod will include some revisions. The download will be posted in this forum right after the F1 classic race at Paul Ricard.

The SimHQ Motorsports calendar has been updated for the 2nd half 2011. The Skodas make their return in October, and the new SimHQ iRacing Series has been added. We are trying to not overlap one series with the next, and there should be racing to accommodate everyone's busy schedule. November and December may get some additional races for VHR or rFactor 2, depending on its release.

The calendar has been updated with the VHR Indy race and two new dates for F1 Classics.
Please suggest the F1 Classics mod, track and F1 event (example: 1985 French Grand Prix) you would like to see run on those two dates.
I'm sure the 1979 F1 mod will be one of two suggested, but which track?

I really hope we can run the F1 1971 mod at Monza as one of the F1 cassics. As long as it's the oval and road circuit that would be awesome!!! I'd love to do a F1 77 race around the Nordschliefe or the old Interlagos, or any of the 70s carsets really... I'd also like to do a F5000 race around Bathurst or Adelaide... But that's not F1 lol...

Not the oval monza that was not used in '71 I know it wasn't but I don't know of many mods that are earlier then 71 and I love racing on the combined circuit...
