After looking at some N scale railroad scenery, I thought I'd try my hand at building some vehicles in 1/160th scale. I might carry them forward into a small diorama, but at this point there are no plans for a model railroad layout.

These are built from scratch using plain (printer) paper and note card stock. Things like the wheels are rolled around a form. Otherwise it's pretty straight forward pasting together to the required shape and size. Paint is acrylic, with details in pencil and permanent marker. The windows are formed from clear blister packaging (that everything comes packaged in these days).

Looks good!

How long does it take to build a model like that?

Those took between a month or two each. That's working on them in 15 to 30 minute sessions, as the schedule permits. Throw in a couple of 2 or 3 hour sessions (while watching baseball on TV) too.

I enjoy that building models will "wait" for me. I can put them away for a week or two when I'm pressed for time, and a half hour session is easy to setup/work/stow and still get a good bit done.

Really impressive, I like the planking on the back of the Studebaker and the detail on the front of the R-190.

I used to do warship models, I never really got the swing of it and didn't finish too many. I've been thinking of getting back into it now that I'm done school (and subsequently unemployed), got a lot more free time on my hands.

You could sell those to model railroaders. Really impressive.
