As you can imagine, deal with Activision wasn't signed right before announcement of the game - so we haven't learned our lessons that time yet So, as example, we still don't have any rights to make title updates, even at our own expences. However, let's hope it everything will be OK

Please note, that the game is not THAT hardcore simulation like Birds of Prey in Simulation mode was. Of course, it is still not Jungle Strike or BFBC2 helicopter mode, but we have made some assists, engine power is a bit increased. The game is more about combat, than landing/taking-off.

There will be PS3 and X360 demos (at least we've made and submit it, Activision will decide when to release them).
We poor PC people again...

As for flyable aircrafts - only different Apaches are flyable in Campaign (no surprise here as it is Apache game). In free flight you can fly Apaches, MQ-8B, Mi-35 Hind (and last one has beatiful cockpit).
However, I hope for the best.

unfortunately it looks as though the simulation , or realistic , mode, is not going to be hardcore enough for me. All the screens and videos makes it look like the MFD pages cannot be cycled through, and if you watch the one video of the first mission and he says there is a camera on the gun( !!??) and it goes to the camera view, which looks great in FLIR mode, but I know that was probably arcade mode.. but still has me worried... I'm hoping for MFD pages with selectable ground radar mode, TSD page, sytem status page, and all that stuff. I know this was meant really for the console gamers out there, but man with that graphics engine would be nice to see a legitimate Longbow sim . Well here's to waiting for the DCS AH64A and combat helo....

I strongly suspect it's about putting the core controls into a joypad which is a publisher requirement. Have low expectations, they did bother to put in smaller details like the velocity vector stick and ball.
From trailer #1, it's clearly all about blowing stuff up. They can't even take-off from base without the ground exploding around them. It's like Micheal Bay meets Oleg Maddox. Well, anything better than watching Nicholas Cage solve things.
Why all the hate for this game? Now Richard, I have been anxiously awaiting your game for a while now and CANNOT wait for Combat Helo... But...
Gaijin did a bang up job being the first developer to actually release a decently realistic flight sim for consoles. IL-2 Birds of Prey in no way compared to any PC flight sim in my opinion. But it is by FAR the closest a console sim has come to not being complete garbage as far as flight characteristics go. (By the way... I am ranked #1 in the world at sim dogfight in IL-2 Birds of Prey on 360)
So this is coming from a guy who has logged over 300 hours on DCS Black Shark. (I can even manually start that bird up from memory... Which is impressive in this Goat's opinion)
Apache: Air Assault may not accurately simulate rotor wash, nor do I expect it to allow you to flash through your MFD's at will. Heck... I'll even be blown away if they even simulate a vortex ring state (But simulation mode on IL-2 Birds of Prey surprised me at how far they went to accurately model each plane) But my GOD... It's for CONSOLES. You have 15 buttons besides the start button to work with. I'm not expecting to be able to do my usual 30 minute start up check list on Apache: Air Assault... But ANY game that even comes close to NOT being Ace Combat on consoles is a huge leap forward... It's also something I never thought I would see until the past year.
So my PC is down and out... I have to purchase a new motherboard and power supply for the beast... But in the mean time I will be HAPPY to purchase Apache: Air Assault. And am hoping to become #1 in the world again at yet another AWESOME Gaijin title.
Until you exclusively own a console... You have no idea how lonely the skies can be. So good on Gaijin... And thanks for making a console sim that doesn't allow me to go Mach 2 in 5 seconds in my F-16 by holding down the right trigger.

If you thought I was dissing it it any way then no, I'm really enthused by it, don't think I've said anything else. Had it on pre-order ages. Having low expectations is not a bad thing, it's a really good way of keeping happy.
But it is by FAR the closest a console sim has come to not being complete garbage as far as flight characteristics go. (By the way... I am ranked #1 in the world at sim dogfight in IL-2 Birds of Prey on 360)
Yes, but they could achieve that only by using the plane models and FM from Olegs IL2. We will see in the release what FM they have, but if it turns out to be just a helicopter-HAWX then I will pass. Shooting up enemys as fast as you can and just in masses is not what I want to play.

I'm not hating on it either , it just sucks to see such a great graphics engine wasted on a console Modern Warfare/ BFBC2 / MOH helicopter sequence made into a whole game... I mean they're launching almost all the hellfires at once and they aquire their own targets on the fly.. can the radar hellfires do that??? And as a pilot the gunner controls the gun, and you point and launch your rockets at a target, and I never once saw the rocket " I " beam lock onto a target... and they said this was the realistic mode??? And going to a gun camera with FLIR ,,.. where do you get that without looking down at the MFD's?? Once again dumbing it down and making it look like a mission out of Modern Warfare,... Flexman keep it up on Combat Helo, I'd much rather put a hundred bucks towards a great ETADS Longbow sim than 50 bucks on another mindless console "sim"...
