Starbuck was nowhere near the hottest chick on BSG imo. But then I'm not a huge fan of blonds anyway.

Starbuck wasnt Model Sexy... she was "Rugged sexy"... if such a thing makes sense. If i had to be stuck with any female from BSG, definitely choosing Grace Park.

You dont remember how hot and feminine Starbuck looked in that dress in the season 1 episode "Colonial Day".

Grace Park is very attractive but she needs to eat a burger or two.

Katee was fun to watch before she died, she was getting down with anyone, and as a guy, i was like "yeah, why cant she attack me like that shiz....". but I'll take boomer..

Ah, so basically her career went nowhere after Xena went off the air.

That seems to happen to most actors after a long running TV series.

Most actors whose careers didn't exist before the series, yes. If they were already known, they usually have little trouble finding more work afterwards.

However, for those whose name was "made" by a TV show, it's not at all uncommon to see them fade away once the series ends, even if they did films while the show aired!

One series that was a recent exception was That 70s Show. Several of the unknowns on that show have gone on to do quite a lot of stuff once the show ended, like Demi Moore!

I've been keeping my eye on the former cast members of BSG who were unknowns in the US before the show started and some have fared much better than others so far. Grace Park has her steady gig on the main cast of "Hawaii 5-O" and Katee Sackhoff was a regular cast member during the final season of "24" but it seems that most of the others haven't done too much besides guest spots and crappy SyFy original movies.

Demi Moore was in "That 70s Show"? Maybe you're thinking of "Mr. Demi Moore (soon to be ex)" or Mila Kunis ???

Didn't Dirk Benedict go on to fame in the A-Team after BSG?

TBH Grace Park was the only one I cared about.

However that was not my statement. My statement was "several of the unknown actors went on to do great things like Demi Moore!"

He was also in the BBC show "Outcasts" and he was in the pilot episode for the new Ron Moore show "17th Precinct" but NBC decided not to pick it up.

I guess I just get used to people lumping sci-fi in with fantasy, and it's kind of fantasy.

That's understandable. Personally it irks me how the entertainment industry lumps sci-fi in with fantasy. I guess they figure that having science fiction stand on its own won't garner enough fans. If you look at SyFy's current programing for example, the vast majority of it is really fantasy and not sci-fi. They might was well change their name to the Fantasy Channel.

But you have to admit that the two genres do seem to attract much the same crowd.

It also depends how you define SF. For instance, are vampires fantasy? What if it's described as a virus that mutates the body? After all, it's an explanation rooted in science. Compare that with an episode of Star Trek where a crew member is "possessed" by an entity via some ill-defined mechanism. In fact, one could claim that between the Head Six and Baltar visions, the Starbuck mystery, and the way the series plays out, that BSG was in fact just as much fantasy as many other series.

It's not the idea, it's the execution that makes an idea more or less fantastical.



As someone who's not watched any of the series currently airing on SFC, on what are you basing this statement? Promos? Other people's (likely less-than-flattering) opinions?

I know enough about the basic premise of the major shows currently on SyFy to know whether it falls more in line with sci-fi or fantasy. I've also seen segments of some episodes from time to time.

Callisto was pretty Hot, she acted like a spoiled brat chick too, even worse when they made her a god for a few episodes.




Yeah, Alexandra Tydings, She could wear some lingerie!, and thats ALL SHE WORE the entire Xena and Hercules Series.

I quite like that Brazilian chick who was a prostitute, then an invading queen mother, and is now just a housewife married to a terrorist!

I think her name is Morena Baccarin!

It would be extra sweet if they could get her for the Blood and Chrome series...no, I don't know anything, just saying she would be a nice addition for the BSG spinoff.

She just plain hot and doesn't seem to have an empty head either...

Everything I've read so far indicates that Blood & Chrome is DOA. Sigh.

Well, like I said, BSG and Caprica were just as much fantasy as most other SFC shows right now.

I'd say that Caprica though had a lot more hard science behind it compared to most other contemporary shows. Just the pilot alone delved a lot into how the holobands worked and explained the technical issues that Daniel was having in trying to create the first living AI.

Well by that metric EVERY show on SFC is just as hard science as Caprica was. They all have things that are explained with science that isn't quite something we could do but sounds reasonably near in the future. Especially Eureka, that show took over from Star Trek and Stargate when it comes to having tecnobabble. Haven is just as SF as the X Files or Fringe. WH13 and Sanctuary are more like alternate realities where things you would think are very rare are actually rather commonplace but hidden from the public.

All of them, in fact, have scientific explanations and reasons behind things that occur.

So what is the line then? How much stuff that can't/won't/isn't explained can be in the show before it becomes a fantasy? If you explain 100% of the minor stuff but leave a few MAJOR things unexplained, is it SF or fantasy? If you only explain the major stuff and don't bother with any of the minor stuff?

I do agree that the line between scifi and fantasy can be and very often is very blurry.

I think that's why for me personally, I've always separated the two depending on certain specific elements. For example, "fantasy" for me was stuff that had magic, elves, dragons, orcs, medieval-like technology, warlocks, etc. "Sci-Fi" was anything that had space travel, aliens, futuristic technology, etc.

Ok, so by your defintion nothing on SFC now is fantasy aside from occasional movies/miniseries. No series, in other words.

One of the more interesting characters from that show too.

Come to think of it, most of the characters were interesting...and while I enjoyed the show, somehow it didn't quite "gel" as it should have.

I was completely shocked and surprised where her character arc went in the last episode of the series. I love the entire cast of Caprica but the three who stood out for me the most were Clarice Willow, Daniel Greystone and Joseph Adama.

Never looked at that poll until now. Amanda Tapping definitely gets my vote. I also like Rachel Luttrel(sp?) (Teyla). I'll also throw in my vote for two that weren't on the list: Claudia Black (Vala) and Torri Higginson (Elizabeth Weir from SG:A). I guess you wouldn't call Torri super-model gorgeous, but there's just something about her that I find really attractive.

Morena Baccarin is a knockout, period.

She looks far better with long hair. I'm rewatching the final season of SG-1 right now and I'll soon be seeing the scenes with both her AND Claudia Black AND Amanda Tapping together.

Meanwhile I'm on the 3rd season of Atlantis, so I'll soon see Higginson and Luttrel and Staite all together. Then Tapping will replace Higginson.

I saw Callisto (Hudson Leick) in real life. She is just as pretty off camera. I have also seen her nude in a movie. In real life she tends to have VERY short hair.

Actually she had a full length dress on both times. One red one white. In the white dress she had long hair which she commented was a wig. In the red dress she had VERY short blonde hair. She was barefoot both times. She had heels but she took them off (I did not see her remove them but they were sitting on the stage so I assumed they were hers). Either the heels were hurting her feet or she just likes going barefoot. She seemed to really enjoy her time on stage. She even granted a request for a kiss from a fan lol.

That's great.

I saw Bruce Boxleitner at a convention last summer and during the Q&A session, some 15 year old Asian girl complete with Manga-style costume asked Bruce if she could get a hug from him. He complied and then remarked to the audience "she's young enough to be my grand daughter!".
