Hey everyone, I am just curious if it is possible to get the micro-stick thing able to be used for say slewing the TGP or Mav n stuff but using the in-game controls set-up. I don't have Foxy installed yet, just switched over to windows 7 and I'm bein lazy lol. I tried doing it once but it seems it does not get recognized in-game. Any help is appreciated.... if it's just not possible I guess im gonna have to go looking for the set-up for Foxy and start looking for a decent profile. Thanks.

Yes, I have it working just fine. I'm at work now and cannot get to the script to post it. Basically the cougar MS uses the 4 key commands used to opperate the TGP/Mav. It's not very precise, but works well.

I think you are asking if you can use the micro-stick as an analog axis in WH. So far, I have not been able to get the game to recognize it as such. It would be great if it did and I don't know why it's not working. It worked in FC and FC2, but no go in A10. I'll be trying again tonight, but chances are you're just going to have to install foxy and program it to produce keyboard outputs. It works O.K, but analog control would be much better.

O.K. I does work! But I had to use mouse type A5. Now, when I'm slewing the TP or MAV, I see the yellow mouser cursor floating around (immersion killer). Anyone know how to turn off the mouse cursor?
I'll bet I can go back and just leave the micro-stick un-programmed as an analog axis and be done with this...
Let you know soon.

EDIT:
Yep. Here's how: as long as the micro-stick is set up as an analog axis in the CCP, just leave it alone in the Foxy profile.
When you go into WH, go to options->controls.
To set up HOTAS: Slew Horizontal: In the column for Cougar HOTAS, double click the line corresponding to HOTAS Slew Horizontal then move the microstick forward and backward along the horizontal plane (for me that's toward the 'A' on Ant).
Follow the pattern for the slew vertical.

Slewing in this mode is MUCH better than in programmed mode. WoooHooo!

I would still like to know how to get the mouse cursor to turn off after some period of no activity...

mfrank14,

Could you please send me your DCS A-10C Foxy profile?

Thanks so much!

The disadvantage to doing it this way -- if it matters to you, and to me it does -- is that you then can't differentiate between shifted and unshifted modes for the microstick. On my setup, I wanted to have the microstick act as the mouse when unshifted, and slew control when shifted. I then use the microstick button unshifted as the LMB, and shifted returns the mouse cursor to center (I'm not sure why the odd values are required, as I initially assumed "UL, 50%, 50%" would do it, but whatever ... it works), so I have this:

Code:
MIX /I 3 HOTAS_slew_left ^ HOTAS_slew_right
    /O 5 17 (0 6 12 18 24 29 35 41 47 53 59 65 71 76 82 88 94 100) MSX(-30) MSX(-22) MSX(-16) MSX(-11) MSX(-7) MSX(-4) MSX(-2) MSX(-1) MSX(0) MSX(1) MSX(2) MSX(4) MSX(7) MSX(11) MSX(16) MSX(22) MSX(30)
MIY /I 3 HOTAS_slew_down ^ HOTAS_slew_up
    /O 5 17 (0 6 12 18 24 29 35 41 47 53 59 65 71 76 82 88 94 100) MSY(30) MSY(22) MSY(16) MSY(11) MSY(7) MSY(4) MSY(2) MSY(1) MSY(0) MSY(-1) MSY(-2) MSY(-4) MSY(-7) MSY(-11) MSY(-16) MSY(-22) MSY(-30)

BTN T1 /I MOUSEXY (UL, 43%, 30%)
       /O MOUSE_LB

I actually haven't tried your suggestion of binding slew in-game, so I don't know how it compares in terms of smoothness, but doing it my way seems fairly smooth to me.

Nice GregP, I see the disadvantage that you point out and can see where you are coming from. Spyder was asking how to slew without having to use Foxy, so I went in and figured it out. I have always liked using the micro-stick as an analog controller. I was slewing the targeting pod in programmed mode and is seemed pretty smooth, but breaking up the axis into x number of bands is effectively decreasing the resolution you can get out the stick deflection. Then again, it may all be in my head; after all, there is such a small amount of deflection to begin with that I may not even be able to move my thumb in less than 6% increments anyway.

For centering the mouse, are you sure you've got the correct in-game resolution declared? That's the only thing I can think would require using something other than 50/50 to center.

Here is what I have from my slew on the MS:

.tmj file
MIX 3 Slew_dn ^ Slew_up
MIY 3 Slew_rt ^ Slew_lt

.tmm file
Slew_up = /H ;
Slew_dn = /H .
Slew_lt = /H ,
Slew_rt = /H /
