Maybe something is blocking java from running, is the firewall open for java?

Check task manager to see if javaw is running when you double click rofcampaign.jar. Also check the task bar if a java tab is there, it could just be that the GUI has lost focus and needs moving back to you desktop

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. Managed to open the JAVA control panel and ticked the place icon in task bar but it's not there. This is again a fresh install of JAVA so I've no idea of what the **** is going on. I'm obviously missing something really simple but have no idea what.

First off, thanks for taking the time to put this together and sharing it, Patrick.

Now my problem:
DL'd it last night... seems to have gone up ok and set up a character, got a mission ready, closed it. Started up RoF and could see the mission in the Missions function for a Spad 13 but the Start selection button is greyed out?!?

It's probably really simple, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks for any help,
C_G

Found some excellent Fok DVII skin packs on the RoF site and want to modify Pat's files to add specific skins. Seem easy enough - but - is spacing for the text and all of those { } brackets important and, if so, how does one keep em all lined up?

I know enough about programming to be dangerous, but in case no one else answers, the spacing is not important but it helps YOU to identify discrete lines of code responsible for discrete processes. So best to leave spaces there.

The brackets ARE important, best to leave the brackets there. Use tabs to line things up if you want.

Yes I know the brackets are the important piece. I edited the file this morning and was able to create a mission successfully. Hopefully I will see the skins when I fly it tonight.

Edit.

Actually, what I wanted to do - add the skins to the campaign file - does not work. But I did manage to change the pilot names to historical ones. Next stop is to edit the Mission file. Oh well.

Further edit.

So that worked but I got a corrupted campaign file - sigh. I'll try one more time.

If anyone is interested I solved the problem of being unable to run the Java file to open the campaign generator. Using explorer I looked in file types and found that the Nokia OVI program on my machine was overriding Java, so I uninstalled the OVI prog and problem solved. Now all I need to do is find out why the time acceleration only works now and then, and why the top hat only works now and then. Any clues?

that's good that you report it here.
For the time compression, it may just be too much for your hardware sometimes: Read Han's post here.
As for the hat-switch, best advice is by gunloon: Remap your controller and save it under a different name. Due to the high sensitivity of the mapping procedure, it is likely that you mapped a button twice. Recheck that. That's all I could think of.

Michael.
