Dear Pilots,

Welcome to the Free2Play version of Rise of Flight! This version of Rise of Flight can be played for an unlimited time and features two flyable aircraft with full access to all their features. This should not be viewed as just a simple demo, but more as a beginner version of the Full game. All features are the same with the only difference being the number of add-on content that is included.

Unlike our older demo, you can now purchase and add new aircraft and content to the Free2Play version. By downloading the Fee2Play version you can now build your own custom version of ROF by adding airplanes and other content at your own pace through the ROF Store.

The Free2Play version includes the following:

- Flyable SPAD 13 and Albatros D.Va including
- Includes Field Modifications and Weapon Modifications for each plane.
- Includes a Pilot Scarf and Streamer for each plane.
- Full Access to Single Player and Multiplayer Modes for each aircraft.
- Full Access to Career Mode for each aircraft.
- Full Access to Gunner Positions in Bombers and Recon Aircraft in Multiplayer.

To Install:

Step 1: Download the ROF Free2Play .zip file from the link below and save to a safe location on your computer.
Step 2: Unzip the contents to your hard drive and locate the Setup.exe file inside the folder and double click to launch the install routine.

Note: Please temporarily disable Windows UAC before installation to avoid a serious problem. This won’t harm your system and you can enable it again after install is complete. Make sure to also install all of the Microsoft libraries when prompted during the second part of the install.

Step 3: Follow the on-screen prompts about location, start menu, desktop icon etc. to complete installation.
Step 4: Run the ROF Launcher by double clicking the ROF Settings shortcut which was put on your desktop during install.
Step 5: Once in the launcher, select your game Settings and then click on Update to check for any updates.
Step 6: Install any updates if available and then click on Start and Start one more time to launch the game.
Step 7: Click on "Register Demo or Activate Retail Copy" from the main screen in-game to register a [/b]User Account[/b].
Step 8: Enter the code below to Activate your copy of the Freee2Play version or enter your Retail key-code if you have already purchased one.
Step 9: Once registered and activated, Login Online from the main screen to unlock your content.

The straight-forward and logical solution. Find the product on its home page. Good call.

Fixed the joystick, and purchased the game.
Can't wait to see what more gets added to this game.
The graphics are amazing, and i love the game play so far.
Thanks again!

Great to see you join in with ROF Ghost!

I'm putting the Franken Potato to good use smile

I've set it up this way:
-pinky rotary as zoom
-thumb rotary as radiator as I need to mess with it all the time in dives/climbs
-fighterstick as mixture and altitude throttle, as I don't need to touch it very often

The rest is fairly straightforward.

Also I put a response curve on the zoom axis so that I only need half the length and I can flick it up for a quick zoom.

Trackir you'll benefit from a deadzone on X and Y so that you can snap onto the gunsight in centre view. Unlike DCS etc we have no HUD based gunsight smile

Well, I'm really looking forward to playng this demo - but the process has been a monument to slowness so far.

Also...time has started ticking off the demo time and I don't even have everything fully loaded yet, I'm down to 309 hrs from 336 and I haven't even taken off yet lol.

Jason,

Who is the best person to email reference problems with demo/upgrades/plane bundles etc?

I have a friend who has emailed reference a problem he has but hasn't had a reply yet. Just wondering if he has emailed the right people.

He enjoyed the game last night (demo mode only), but lack of replies is draining his enthusiasm. Hate to lose a new convert frown

Splash,

rof at 777studios.net is our official support email. If he's playing the Demo it sounds like he's got it working ok.

Is it a real problem with a purchase or just a question? He can also ask on the forums and of course he'll probably get an answer from the community faster.

We try to respond to all emails within 2 days.

Jason

He was upgrading to ICE from the demo but bought the wrong item. Think he was trying to multi task and failed.

Will let him know. Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi Jason,

I plan to buy ROF-ICE from amazon, since it is on sale.
Then, after browsing the net, I find this post, so my questions are:
- Is this demo exactly the same as the digital version of ROF-ICE from amazon?
- So after I download the demo, if I want to upgrade it to full version, i just put the code from amazon?
or I have to install again from amazon site?

Sorry if this are noob questions, I never buy a digital download version before.

With warmest regards,
Tirta

PS. do you have torrent file of the demo?

Hi,

I've just failed twice to download this: The first time it downloaded 2.8GB then tried to run (not a valid 7z archive message), the second time it timed out on me after it was aroud 70% complete.
Trying to resume started it from 0% again....nope
Any chance the download could be made resume supported? I'm a bit frustrated as I've been trying to download it all weekend dizzy
I'm in the UK, and my bandwisth isn't the greatest (typical 58kb/s)

Another option would be to try Free Download Manager to download the demo. It will give you Pause - Resume, keep your connection up, and verify download integrity much like BitTorrents do.

Thanks for the info guys - the Torrent worked fine, and I'm quite impressed by the game.
My first PC flight sim was Dawn Patrol back in the early '90s and although I have played RB II and OFF, this is much more the sort of thing!

Didn't have Force Feedback and TrackIR 5 back then though biggrin

After a couple of hours on the Demo, including having my @rse well and truly kicked in MP, I've upgraded and can report that I'm one happy customer.

I downloaded the previous demo version a few days ago - it seems to have updated to the latest demo version fine, and am looking to upgrade thumbsup

I'm trying to make sense of the RoF pricing policy though. Is there actually any point in buying the demo upgrade at all? If I buy the Iron Cross edition, I get 7 more aircraft for $50, whereas I can buy them all individually, and get an extra one (to get the 30% discount for 8 ) for $43 or therabouts. Or am I missing something? Do you get any other new content now, if you upgrade form the demo to the Iron Cross edition?

Yes you are correct. Just enter the code from Amazon into the Demo.

Choose whichever route fits your wallet best. Pricing will adjust and come into line more in the future. These are early days of new Demo model.

The download is sloooooooow for me! 2+kb/s on my 30MBit line! Are there any alternative links, or torrent links perhaps?

Now this sounds a lot less like a demo and a lot more like a free-to-play version of Rise of Flight. Makes sense given the business model of selling players the ability to fly additional planes (and now field mods on top of that).

If upgrading to the full ICE package (or even more) remains a cinch, then it ought to bring a lot of new players into the community.

I'm no expert so could be wrong, but I think you have to register an account online, and then start up the demo and sign-in. Once you've done that once then you can play offline. It's more of an entire 'free-to-play' game than a demo nowadays, with the extra aircraft and field-kits being how they make money.
