That blued steel has some nice patterning to it. Simply gorgeous!

Got the Katana on the wall; gives me that "primeval warrior" feeling....lol

Strangely, tomorrow, I am off down the range to shoot a 1911 classic.
From a looks point of view, I love the HK USP Match in .45 cal (Andrew ducks for cover) but the price of them here now is prohibitive, I don't earn enough to buy one.

Was considering buying myself a Zigana Sport in 9mm (for looks and apparent performance) does anybody have any comments?

Lastly, for a rifle, cannot go past the L1A1 SLR / FN FAL in 7.62mm.

I dream of the day I can possibly live stateside and own one. P.S; Anybody seen the new rebuilds that are coming the British army's way?

Andrew.

Those old pistols are beautiful. I love the blueing and that case hardened patterning. The old cap and balls are a favorite of mine. Someday I'll get one or two.

Went to the range today with a buddy who was shooting a Yugo M48. I took that Russian capture of mine that I refinished and mounted a long eye relief Scout scope on it. The range was crowded and my good shooting rests were down a couple lanes with my better rifles so we had to jimmy-up a makeshift rest.

I was pleasantly surprised with the set-up of the scope. I bought a complete sight and sight bed for the Mauser 98k and used it to match a mount for the scope. It allows for a quick and easy change back to iron sights, Nice that I didn't have to drill or make any damaging marks on the rifle to mount the scope, This is a relative;y new thing for me since I have done very little with long eye relief. It is a bit different but I like it.

Flogger23, I put my bayonet on my m91/30 once. I wasn't sure I could get it back off biggrin

When I first picked up the rifle I noticed that it had black paint around the muzzle...
Knew that the first time I cleaned it I would find what they were covering up which was pitting from where the bayonet attached.

The ol' pigsticker probably got put on on '41 and stay until '45 through rain and snow. (or forgotten in some warehouse for 65 years)

My bayonets actually come on and off quickly. The first Mosin I had was very hard to get the bayonet on, I don't think I ever got it on actually.

Nice! Are the numbers matching on that M44?

Bolt doesn't match, the rest do.

I paid $100. Its a nice rifle. Bolt and bayonet are very smooth.

I do. I even think my old beat up AK-47 is beautiful in its own way. But the one that sticks in my mind was a Weatherby rifle from back in the days when mention of the name Weatherby would bring sort of an awed hush over a group of gun lovers or hunters. It was a bolt action beauty with a stock that looked like it must have been made from Zebrawood or something. I remember thinking, "If I owned that, I wouldn't even fire it! I'd have a display case made and just put it out there for everyone to admire!" I can still see that rifle in my mind, and that's been years, that's how strong of an impression it made on me.

And I've seen a lot of knives that were worthy of a display case, and handguns and all.

But I'd guess there are people who think all weapons are ugly.

And I'd guess that there are people who'd say that a weapon is no more beautiful than a screwdriver or a wrench (although I think hand tools are beautiful too, but that's a different thread).

So what do you think? Is there beauty in a well made, nicely adorned weapon? I was just looking at OG's M-14 in another thread and thinking how beautiful it was, and that's what got me thinking about this question, as I realized not everyone in the world would see it as beautiful.

State your position, and if you have pics, those are always nice!

Cheers!

Definitely, the M-16/M-203 combo is a fantastic looking weapon. Same thing goes for a stainless 1911.
