Woohoo a chance to not give 'ol fatneck any more money! It doesn't help that they are doing the prequels first. Link

I'll keep an open mind and see how good the 3D is on the first film and then go from there.

Well the article said the future releases were dependent on success. So I kind of hope they never get to do 4,5&6 because no one went to see the prequels. I know it's evil.

I bet it will flop. We've SEEN it. Dozens of times. Being 3D won't make any difference whatsoever. Guato and Jar Jar in 3d? I'll pass. He won't even give us a new X-Wing simulator. I gave up. Ep. 4 and TESB are the only ones I care about.

I hate 3d movies. I think it is the worst direction the movie industry can go. I read an article somewhere that stated watching a few movies in 3d can hugely hurt your eye health. They are going to get sued in the near future if it is true.

Everyone will go... they will make hundreds of millions of dollars more. It won't matter if the 3D is crap or not. People will flock to it because it is Star Wars and no matter the massive #%&*$# from 30+ year olds who can't move on, they CANNOT STOP SUCKING ON THE CRACK PIPE THAT IS GEORGE LUCAS' EPIC SAGA.
Personally, I don't give two poopsicles about Star Wars anymore but I will check out at least the first one just to see what the 3D looks like.

god that lucas is a greedy pig. i'm sure the market will be flooded with more toy and happy meal tie ins. i wonder if lucas even remembers when he actually cared about being an interesting filmmaker.

Even if they released the prequels in holographic Smell-o-Vision (apologies, Futurama) I wouldn't be able to subject myself to sitting through one. An opportunity to be disappointed in a whole new way.
If they got as far as A New Hope I might, but then again it would be the 'new' version with the crappy "Senior Lucas" additions so, per above, it'd be dredging up past annoyances just when I might have been approaching burying them for good.

Lucas has thrashed this series so hard that whatever magic and charm the original films had has been washed away on a tidal wave of bilge.
I wonder if we'll get to see his terrifying fat neck in 3D on the extras disks?

Lucas has thrashed this series so hard that whatever magic and charm the original films had has been washed away on a tidal wave of bilge. And yet they keep making hundreds of millions for LFL and the TV show wins Emmys. Star Wars gets bigger every decade... and no one cares...

Hehe, I think Star Wars has gone through the MTV phenomenon. Everyone over 30 laments the decline and fall of the institution while all the kids and teens absolutely love it and keep spending money.

Because the Star Wars prequels were so computer generated, I don't think it is that difficult to convert them to a fairly decent 3D experience. The older ones are a different story, though.

I just want to know WTF is up with the live-action TV series? Is the Clone Wars going so well they're just going to stick with that until it runs out of steam to even start thinking about it?

The Jedi Master They went real quiet about that, didn't they? Did they even get as far as writing or casting? Anyway, in other Fatneck news: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1584214/George-Lucas-sues-Star-Wars-designer.htmlIt's been going on for a couple of years but just made it to court.

So far it seems to be a question of funds. Lucas is used to making films that cost $1m per minute to make, you can't make episodic TV at $45m each!

The Jedi Master Yeah, not even American Idol/NCIS number of viewers could sustain a budget like that.

Films that are not filmed originally in 3d are typically poor. Bad idea George.

The Jedi Master ouch! LOL what is criminal is that the article states that 'according to the plan' one film will be released each year. That means I cannot experience SW or TESB...until the year...wait, let me get my calculator...2015 and 2016!?! WTF!?

Come on guys, Episode I in 3d will be "sooo wizard". I am cool with Episode I. I mean, at least it has a lot of Jar-Jar. The other movies, though... come on. Barely any Binks. What was Lucas thinking?

I bet if all of you were 10 years old when you first saw Phantom Menace, you guys would think that it was a great movie.

They'd probably also think the Last Airbender was great.
The opinions of a 10 yr old matter not to me!

I have seen them already, so I know what to expect. If I want a good story, I'll read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. If I go to see The Phantom Menace, I will see an annoying kid, an uncomfortably unfunny alien, boring effing Jedis, and very little in the way of interesting story. Then again, I'll also see a pretty decent lightsabre duel, the pod race (enjoyable) and lots of explosions and pretty lights. I can handle that, I'll just think about sex during the boring bits and enjoy the rest of the spectacle, and George Lucas can have a few dollars in return. What the hell. Maybe he'll use the portion of his fortune based on my dollars to pick up a copy of Pride and Prejudice.

I'll be picking up the bluray set on release, but I'm not so sure about seeing these in the theater.
If I hear rave reviews about it, I might see the first one in the theater. If I'm not totally wowed, though, I won't bother with the others.

What's interesting about Lucas is that he personally has some very good artistic tastes. He is a HUGE fan of Akira Kurosawa and he and Francis Ford Coppolla even helped partially fund one of Kurosawa's films (Kagemusha in 1980).
