Does anybody else love this film too? I just think it's amazing. I've watched it at least 10 times, and if it was on tomorrow, I'd watch it again. One more time.
And Ziyi Zhang, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

I love the film. Then I see it and I love Ziyi Zhang.
Oh boy, do I love Ziyi Zhang.
I figure we could find a cozy cove together somewhere and just kinda relax and enjoy. I know I would.

I've only seen it once back when it came out in theaters. I really need to watch it again because when I saw it in the theater I thought it was good but I didn't understand what all the commotion and hype was about at the time.

Haven't seen the dubbed version, don't think I want to.

I too preferred the subtitled version. I have the dvd and tried the dubbed version too just to see what it was like, but I enjoyed the subtitled version by a long shot.
Her name is Zhang Ziyi. Asians always pronounce their surnames first.
It's a funny title for a movie considering there are no tigers or dragons during the entire feature....not even a cameo appearance.......hmmm...... maybe because they are either crouching or hidden........
As usual, many Chinese films cannot get away from their customary fight choreography that always involve gravity defying, levitating kungfu
If you like all the kungfu stuff, a much better contemporary effort would be Ip Man and Ip Man 2, with one-time American import Donny Yen in the title role as Ip Man (Bruce Lee's teacher). You see some proper choreography there.
Thanks Harry, I did not know about the naming convention.
Regarding the kungfu stuff, no, I'm not really a fan of that. But this was different to me. Swords and what I figured was magic. The choreography and the cinematography are just outstanding. When they're fighting in the trees, very nicely done. The story is great, the actors very good and just the overall look, well, I think you can tell I liked the movie very much.

That has struck me as well. There's no doubt that "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" set off a new trend in Hollywood that lasted for several years. Other films like "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers" also had their fair share of gravity-defying martial arts.

Actually, "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" is an idiom in Chinese. If I interpret correctly, the crouching tigers and hidden dragons refer to very talented people hidden among a group of ordinary looking people.

That's correct. And the movie is based on the novel of the same name.
