Figured a new thread is needed now that it's released...

OK, 1st Q. (and yes i RTFM, lol) What, am I not able just to get a car and practice/learn a track on my own... I have to practice using the 1 hour practice session with other AI drivers? I just want to take a car and drive it on a track, learn the game, track, and car... and No, I put up a LAN and it didn't work... you can't MP by yourself, lol.

And Chunx, going to need your advice on those FANATEC settings, just don't seem right to me, but i have no clue what those advance settings are, lol.

OK, another one... but not really related to F1 2010, just that was the game i tried it with.

I invited friends to my F1 2010 MP game via LIVE (in game from F1), they connected but what VOIP is suppose to be used... the Steam VOIP or is there a separate one for Windows Live?

thx

Regarding Q1 (PC) Time trial is what I'm using to practice and I can set ghost AI and weather conditions for the track.

I will use this to put some 'first impressions' in.

Pretty happy with it, very FUN!

At this point I can't comment on how realistic the physics are, first impressions are 'pretty good', but seems much more forgiving than an rFactor, especially under heavy braking. Now, I am not sure how much your initial selection for difficulty affects this, for this quick test, I picked the second most easiest...

I ran the first race at Bahrain, which is a track I wasn't familiar with, so it was nice to have the ontrack guidance for braking zones.

Qualified 6th, finished last due to one extra pitstop I shouldn't have taken, as well I spun out of control about 3 times. One time as well I hit a bump weird and it kicked my backend out, this was pretty cool, and felt real, as far as how the car likely would have behaved there.

I captured a video of the first couple laps where I got into first place until a pitstop, and then got held up in the pits when everyone else decided to pit right then, likely due to the race leader pitting or something. Nobody pitted on the second pitstop I did, although shouldn't have.

Overall, it looks beautiful, was fun to drive, and I can't wait to get some online races with the everyone here.

Cheers!

p.s. I will link the video later.

Some problems I noticed. The gears lag a bit when you change them, same with the throttle and brake. Another problem with the throttle is that it's not really affected by how much you use. If you only have a little throttle on, it will still rev up to the limit. Don't know if it's the same with the brakes though.

I'm experiencing that delay (lag) as well.

Also my MOMO is going bat sh** insane. The wheel will rock back and forward as soon as the game launches (while in the gui). It is very annoying.

Coutie, Have you tried adjusting the throttle/braking deadzone?

I have it at zero. I did play around with the settings but nothing really changed.

I set up a little grand prix to check out some tracks. 1 lap of a series, dynamic weather, just to see what there was to see.
I'm really not good at this thing, going to take a lot of practice. I very much like the car set up options. Not so in depth as Race 07, but you get enough. Or, just tell the crew chief what you want from a list of options if you just want to get out there. Good system.

What I don't like is how slow it is to navigate the game--it's like Dirt 2 but worse. If you need to shut down quickly, just ctrl+alt+del and do it from the task manager. These load times are horrendous. Fortunately, you don't have all of the obnoxious chatter in the race. The Chief says only what's important and nothing from the other drivers. That was a huge annoyance in Dirt 2 and NFS Shift. This game is more serious and they treated it that way.
Also, might as well use the G27's pre-set configuration. Can't set up all the buttons in the custom settings that they give you in the pre-set config.

Over all I think this thing is excellent. Not my preferred type of racing, but a great game.

Deadzones:
steering is at 0 to 100
throttle is 5 to 100
brake is 5 to 60 or so

FFB is cranked up pretty high, feels better. Probably around 90 on each.
