Well, I haven't played this since I had it installed in Windows XP, so I didn't know what to expect when I installed it today on Windows 7 using Steam.

First of all, the menu interface seems to act differently. I go to "Missions" and go through the steps of setting things up . . . you know, choose the sub I want and so forth. There is something weird about the graphics that makes it hard to see what I'm selecting . . . almost as if the different parts of the Dangerous Waters GUI are mixed together. Hard to describe, but it you've seen it you will know.

Also, I keep getting interupted by a Windows Speech Recognition set-up routine. I choose "Cancel" but it keeps popping up. I would gladly set it up to get it out of the way, but my Creative Mixer software just doesn't seem to want to get along with Windows as far as this speech recognition stuff is concerned. I don't remember this being as intrusive as THIS in Windows XP. I really don't want to use the f*cking speech recognition software in Dangerous Waters, so WTF?!!!?

Heh heh, I'm okay now. I'm going to play Bioshock now. But if you know of any solutions or hints to solutions, please post here. smile

i think there is a checkmark box on one of the options screens to enable/disable the use of voice commands? i don't have DW installed, so i am not 100% sure about that.

Yes, there is a checkmark in-game for the voice commands that I have tried. Not sure why I still have to jump through the hoops for that one.

Also, I will try your idea about antialiasing to see what happens.

Well, I disabled antialliasing in Nvidia but still have problems using the GUI. Oh well.

Far as the speech recog, just alt+tab back into DW and it'll stop switching to it. Just cancel the dialog box whenever you get done playing.

I had the same problem with the annoying speech recognition when I installed DW recently. I would pay good money for a follow up Dangeros Waters with updated graphics and more playable platforms.

Panzermeyer, I'm even easier to please . . . updated graphics for the current DW and I would be happy as a pig in slop.

By the way, I'm not sure what I did, but I can finally play DW again. It had something to do with removing my Nvidia driver profile for Dangerous Waters. As long as it runs in Nvidia default settings I am okay. Cool . . . I am back in the saddle. And that saddle is me getting my a$$ handed to me by Iran. nope
