Anybody else watch this American TV sitcom? I started to get into it a couple months ago and now I really like it. Stars Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper, his brother Alan, Alan's son Jake, a bruiser of a housekeeper named Berta, and several other recurring cast members. Charlie is a drunkard jingle writer is always seems to fall into money and into bed with any woman he wants. Alan is the polar opposite, has no luck, is always striking out. Jake is pretty good in the bits he has as a smart ass kid, and Berta run the household with an iron fist.
It's funny, even though 95% of the humor is sexual (I keep wondering when they're going to run out of sex jokes or sexual situations), well written, well acted. IMO.
Just wondered if anyone else has watched it and what you thought.

I've heard of the show and I've watched a few scenes here and there during my tv channel surfing but sitcoms just dont do it for me for whatever reason. I was an absolute sitcom junkie when I was a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's but after that I stopped watching them.

So then, you OD'ed on sitcoms. Interesting.
I hadn't really watched this show much, but came across it channel surfing and noticed a consistent pattern of nearly nekked good looking women. That was the hook, which I bit like a carp. Watch it pretty much every day now, reruns.
OG, I understand about Sheen, I wasn't really a big fan either, but in this show I'd say he's pretty darn good.

The first few seasons were the best and I wouldn't miss it back then. They are starting to run out of jokes and Jake is all grown up now. The same producer apparently does the Big bang Theory....which is another of my favs.

I think in my case it had to do with my age. For whatever reason I gravitated more towards sitcoms when I was a kid but as an adult I only enjoy serious dramas (science fiction mostly).

That's not far from the truth! The X-Files premiered in 1993 and that was roughly around the time that I started watching mostly dramas! However, there were still quite a few funny X-Files episodes even though the show in general was a drama.

Two and a Half Men is one of the few sitcoms I'll watch. I don't go out of my way to watch it, but if it's on when I'm around, I'll watch it. Not only is it fairly consistently funny, they do have a regular parade of hotties. Megan Fox even did a guest appearance on there before she made it big (yes, straight line, I know).

I don't like Megan, but she sure is a hottie. I'll let her wash my windows any day.

I enjoy the show but am amazed that it's shown at 7.30pm over here. The writing has some funny innuendo's, some of which are quite shocking for early evening TV.
It's one of the few TV shows I actually watch. Definitely adult humor.

It can be pretty funny, but it's just not my style. It's not quite as bad as Three's Company was for ridiculous situations and overuse of stage whispers, though. I think the last sitcom I REALLY liked was Sanford & Son - oh, and The Young Ones, of course.

One of the few shows I still watch on tv. Alan didn't do too bad for a while in the girlfriend department. You will understand when you have seen the "Candy" storyline.

Ah yea, Candy. Prima facie evidence of why I like this show. grrrrrrrrrrr
Saw a show last night about where Rose, Charlie's stalker, leaves to go to England. Charlie's got it all figured out that it's a ploy to get attention. So at the last minute he goes to her place, and she just says goodbye and leaves for the taxi. He yells something like, "See you in a few minutes!", then walks into the house. It's empty except for a trash container in the middle of the room. He sits down and realizes she really is gone. It was kind of poignant.

Potty humor at it's absolute finest IMHO. I just recently discovered it myself as one of my local channels runs it 5 times a week.
I rely on local TV as I'm using an indoor antenna and receive 5 Digital channels 4 16x9 Hi Def and 1 4x3 SD. I tried to check out cable when I got my internet. They just wouldn't give me a straight answer as to what my monthly bill would be after the 6 month promo ran out.

Is she really gone ??
Wheels
No, of course not. Stalkers rarely just go away. Gotta say, Rose, I'd hit that. That gluing of some things to private part things is a tad disturbing, but hey. Gotta make some accommodations.

Er...well...actually in latest eps she showed she really was off the reservation! Friendly neighbor or not, beneath the surface she really has issues.
Funny how many good looking actresses have been on the show, I think they are actually running out of them to feature there! The lady who plays "Chelsie" played two other characters on the show, and she's not the only one.
One of the funniest eps was when some "Goth/vampire" chick starts messing with both brothers, scares Berta right out of the house, and somehow gets the boys physically ill (voodoo or magic spells are implied)...yet when their mother shows up, Goth-girl gets scared and leaves in haste...leaving the boys to wonder just what their mother is really capable of!

Never liked the show, but I'm going to give it a chance now. LOL Charlie turned into such an ass that I can't wait to see how they kill him off on the show. Good casting choice to replace him. I think it's created by the same people that did Big Bang, which we love around here, so I don't know why it was always so obnoxious to me.

Geez Wheels....I thought for a moment Tom was back.
Got all pumped up, thought he might have brought up one of his old threads..... Really miss the guy. Hope he's healing up. Wish he'd post something.
Anyway....yea, the wife loves this show, she knows I'm not a fan of Bollywood, but made me watch it anyway....till I got kinda hooked. Now I can tolerate it, and actually laugh at his selfish attitude. But after his 'psychotic' drug induced tantrum...it soured the whole series. So I just change the channel when the reruns come on....lol....But I suppose I'll be forced to watch Ashton Kutcher make his attempt at immitation of art, until he takes to the 'crack pipe'.
I guess my wife has a sense of humor....and when it comes to 'Bollywood', I don't. I'm a 'History' and 'Military' channel type guy.

What do you think Tom?...
Same here but I still liked this series. I will be surprised if it goes one more season but I am going to watch the first episode. Anyways i don't think they were able to break the contract and Charlie is going to get paid for as long as the show runs and I am pretty sure he is going to need the money.

Reportedly, he got what he was actually owed for shows he had done, which worked out to around 25 million. He was the highest paid TV actor at the time he developed his "tiger blood" and started "winning".
Wheels, yeah there was drop-off from the season opener they said...still, decent numbers and was #1 for the night. I imagine some are going to watch just to see what happens over the first part of the season. For me, it's just not the same show....seems to be more slapstick'ish comedy than what I'd watched over the past years. Charlie might be a total idiot at times and definetely went way off the deep end this time, but he made the show I thought....everything and everyone supported his role.

I agree with that completely. It looks like they have the first ten episodes of this season in the can already so they will at least get that long to find an audience. I won't be one of them. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369179/episodes#season-9

This show is so unfunny now it is painful. All the episodes have been available on the CBS primetime "On Demand" channel and I watched them all to see if it was still worth watching. Even with the laugh track nothing is funny to me. Imo without another major overhaul this will be its last year.
Gotta agree, Wheels....it might be a good comedy if it wasn't named "Two and a Half Men", but since it is it's got a standard to live up to and it's just not doing it...at least for me.

The kid, Jake, is to grown up to be considered 1/2 a man. Although he has a few good lines,,,he is getting to old to play the naive son that dosen't understand life.
Without Charlie, there is to many good characters that don't appear. i.e. Rose...halarious in her antics, The Mother...not the same friction without Charlie.... The Housekeeper.....not as funny anymore.
Walden,....pathetic at best.
Nope...the show is over for me.
But I do think that Charlie's next show "anger management" will be funny.

Yet somehow the show is still getting over 13 million viewers per week which by any measure is still great, especially for a show that is currently in its 9th season.

I ended up watching the last half of tonights episode.
Alan has a breakdown and "becomes" his brother Charlie. The final scene of tonights episode has Alan in a Mental hospital and the final line of tonights episode has Alan saying that he is "Winning."
Looks like they decided to take some shots at Charlie afterall.

I have seen most if not all of the episodes this year and after the first few where they dealt with Charlies death and moved on to the Walden era I felt the show got better.
They shipped Jake and Eldridge off to the Army in last nights episode so their characters could be written out of the show for the most part now. I would hate to see Courtney Thorne-Smith written out of future episodes but without Eldridge or Jake being around I could see them getting rid of her too.

CBS must not be expecting the recent ratings to hold. For season 10 they have moved it from Mondays at 9 PM to Thursdays at 8:30 PM after the Big Bang Theory.

I watched a couple episodes with Ashton as part of the cast. They were ok. Charlie made that show, he was being himself, and it was damn funny. That's just my opinion. My wife likes the new epsisodes.

I agree. That entire show was revolved around Charlie. No Charlie = no show.

Now Jake is leaving....now it's a 2 man show?
Unless Patton Oswalt ends up being a main character.
There have been good and bad episodes with the new cast but unless things change dramatically I don't see it making it past next season.
