I'll second that! yeah

A very long time no see, but it's great to see you here again Marco! cool

I'm guessing, but are you using 1.28D, or 1.28D 1024?

The 1024 version uses 1024x768 screens. The original version of 1.28D only uses the original 800x600 screens, which cause problems with modern cards.

In any case, you should be using 1.28E, which you can get from here:

http://www.users.on.net/~pam_biddell/1.28E_Install/128eInstallPR.htm

Please note, you only need to copy your original disk to your HD, DO NOT INSTALL FROM YOUR CD! You do not need to patch it, as 1.28E has all the new files in it already.

Download the three files and unpack into the EAW folder. Edit your ini file and set graphics to 1024x768 and try running the game. You can set the game to higher res any time you like.

If your having problems flying, then you might need the windower program, but we really need more details of your problems.

Hello Marco.

Have you tried the windower program yet?

Hi Marco,

Did you try running EAW in the D3D Windower?

I have the same nVidia 8800GTS card and Windows XP SP3, but have been unsuccessful using the Windower program to run v1.28E. Could not display main screen without horizontal "line bands" spoiling picture and preventing cursor use.

Eaw 1.28E runs very well with JIM.

Hi Pobs,

I'm currently using display driver 190.62

I was prompted to post after reading the post above from No105_Ogbens viz:-"Install help please" where a similar GeForce card is mentioned, an 8800GT and where you guys brought about a favourable outcome.

Ever hopeful, I reinstalled (copied) EAW once again onto a different hard drive following the useful advice given by Col.Gibbons, Mr Jelly and yourself but, although I feel close this time, I haven't quite made it yet. sigh

Hello Smoby.

Welcome to the community.

But, I have to ask, Installed from the CD, or copied from the CD?

Col. Gibbon,

Initially installed from CD but later also made a second by copying from CD.I'm not sure now if I patched to v1.2. Both work equally well with the aid of JIM - probably the best it's ever done. I've even started to get to grips with OAW128. I'm also using a Glide wrapper.

Why is it essential only to copy from CD?
