eek AMAZING!! I cannot wait to get my hands on this! Between CH:OO and DCA:A-10C both on the horizon, I'm in heaven... Don't know which one I'm more excited for.

Looking at the video, is that the engine start procedure with the simplified FM or is that final?

The video showed only the SAL K, which uses the dual warhead. Do you plan on modeling the K2A(blast-frag sleeve mod, most common), M(dedicated frag), or N (thermoberic) models?

Radar altimeter is very sensitive. On the ground it reads 0, then up to a little over 1,400 before reverting to MSL. Range is altered as bank angle increases and is spot on in the video.

Also, I know it is in the stage of getting it out the door, not a study sim, but the pitch required in the video (30 degrees) would only be seen in a fixed/failed stabilator state or when entering a dive. While cruising, even at high speed, the fuselage is only a few degrees the horizon and the articulating rotor system is tilted forward.

The start-up will have more to it, couldn't show everything as it's a work in progress. The ENG page still needs converting and since I built it I have better data on that.

As it is, the startup will run (mostly) like this, it's variable depending on how much fiddling you want to do...

Battery switch on
Flip APU cover, press APU start
20 secs approx for APU to run up to speed
When APU power is available, INUs, GPS, flight comp is doing its own thing aligning, no need to do anything here.
MPDs are then up and available for adjustment.
Check canopy door
Rotorbrake off
Press engine start switch. Monitor Ng and Egt in limits.
Set engine power level to idle,
Monitor ENG page (it looks cool honest)
Repeat for second engine
Rotorbrake off
Power levers advance to fly
Anti-ice as required
APU off
Lights as required

Or you can hit the BACKSPACE key (my favorite for testing)

We talked to an instructor pilot to get an abbreviated startup for the D model that wouldn't bore peoples pants off. I'm considering just letting you advance the power levers and have it do the previous steps for that engine if you choose to skip them.

And there's some option steps but it's not very difficult. Might want to unstow the PNVS but you'll know to do that if required. A detailed startup list will be available as a PDF.

Stabiliator is currently manual control only so blame the operator. A visibly articulating rotorhead system is not something we plan to implement atm although the force vectors are (supposed) to be applied accordingly, if it happens it'll be in a quiet moment when I figure out how to do it really easily over a cup of coffee and toast.

Edit Reason: Correcting startup

This is pretty amazing. I will be buying this. Finally a new Apache sim. When will it be released?

Dunno. Timeline was set originally for a 12 to 18 month project with a feature list that had tail end items we could drop to help hit the duration (since we never said what they are, nobody will be the wiser and the plan was to add them via the auto-update system post release through a series of "block" updates).

We could speed things up by commissioning some of the remaining big art assets and getting paid to work on it full time. But as that's not going to happen, at the current rate we're aiming to start limited testing around Easter (that's what I told folks at SummerSim2010). After that, who knows. Depending on what turns up and if it plays the way we want it to and we get all the networking issues ironed out (we're using Raknet which is pretty solid at the API end) we'll talk about how to release it. There's two big milestone to hit before we're ready for any testing, the AI mob movement which I'm going to farm out to another programmer shortly and weapons employment.

We lost a lot of time at the start of the year with changes to the 3D engine. Just one of many things that tend to get in the way. Trust me, I really don't want to spend too long doing this, I want to play the finished game too.

Seriously... I have never read a better way to represent an estimation on a product release than this one. Great way of putting it simple and straight forward, Mr Flexman.

Great work on the sim so far, guys. You can surely deliver. A must buy for me. pilot

Nice video that you have put together there Flexman. By the way if your Saitek X-65F throttle is too stiff you can try this solution that worked for me that I've posted before. Let me know if it works for you.
