Since I got my new system running I still can't control the fans. They spin up at power-on; but then drop back down to extremely low RPM's at POST (like they're set on "silent" mode). I figured it was a BIOS setting; but I've changed all of the fan settings in BIOS and they still just idle during operation. I made the temp thresholds very low, tried manually setting the RPM's, and tried Auto (which should increase RPM's with temps). Even using the fan utility on the disk that came with my mobo does nothing. I even DL'd speedfan but it won't change them.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Your fans must be 4 pin to be controlled properly by ASUS mobo. The fourth pin is the PWM controller wire. So are they four pin?

Yes, my CPU and one of my case fans have 4-pin connectors; and I have both of those plugged into the 4-pin headers on the mobo.

That's a tough one. BIOS, ASUS utility and Speedfan don't work. I'm not going to ask if the BIOS is updated. Yes I guess I will.

I did update teh bios (after your reminder wink ) but still nothing. Oh well, temps are still good and the case still has airflow; I guess I'll deal with it

My fans run slow and that's OK with me since I like quiet and the temperatures are good. Once during a thermal stress test, they did speed up audibly.

AMD Overdrive utility has a manual fan speed control. When I just now tried it, it did nothing. But, as I am not concerned, I did not pursue it (i.e. maybe a BIOS setting needs to be made, or I need a different fan connector, etc).

If you have not already, you might try AMD Overdrive free download.
