Really nice.. full screen in HD, almost like having the sim smile

I noticed that the PNVS orientation in cockpit and external views was different.

Thanks for the vid!

The PNVS direction takes it's cue from the pilot so it can be shared across the network, a little bug makes this work in external views. You win a virtual cookie for spotting that.

*edit* fixed smile

Fun fact: you fly the UCAV version of the Apache in this sim(11:33, there's no pilots!)

Awesome video!!! Looking like it's all come together nicely. We should be seeing this in 2, maybe 3 weeks? biggrin

I'm curious though, what sort of hardware was that running on(in regards to both the control arrangement used, and the PC specs)?

Totally, 60 kts in this video feel more accurate and fast than 600 kts in some other sims.

*cough* yes two weeks. Isn't that the standard response?

I recorded it on my dev machine which is a dual-core intel 266mhz and an nVidia 460GTX 1mb 3D card. My demo laptop, when it's RAM decides to play nice (faulty stick) has a 9800GTX mobile chip manages about 30fps over the city in the cockpit with the lights on, which is about as nuts as it gets for GPU useage.

It was flown with a mouse, keyboard, TrackIR and a Saitek X65 force sensing stick (hence some rather ham fisted collective control as it's as stiff as a brick). 3D pilots will be a feature when we can either afford to get them commissioned or build them in house. You wouldn't like to see the "white stick man" stand-in graphic. Since you walk around the base interacting we can't not have you appear.

I should also add that I don't run with all the fancy visual effects either, so no bloom (argh my eye), HDR, god-rays etc which you can have. When the dust is being kicked up around the helo it can look like this...

Which is nice but pointless. I'd rather have the extra FPS. I didn't get to show the new flight model we're working on, it still has a bug or two in it (my fault) so all you got to see was the rookie mode FM. The new FM probably wouldn't get off the pad with that loadout, not without a rolling take-off which we can't do at our Camp Stone.

I'm really pleased that people pick up on the old school game feel, so we must be doing something right.

As regards patches and updates, I really hate incompatibility issues when trying to play with friends online, to improve the customer experience we're going to try a launcher with an MMO style auto-updater. We want to do rolling upgrades to the systems across the board for an avionics package update and compatibility for the CH47 expansion (as well as any free content we might want to push out).
