Now, I'm not trying to make a Ferrari out of a Ford-Ferguson farm tractor, just 'exploring. I 'fell heir' to a Toshiba L/T. 2.5 Gc AMD Dual Core 'Mobile processor, 2 GB RAM. It was sick and slow. I DBANed it, reformatted it, cleaned house for Bloat-Ware, cut the Start Programs back to 'zip'... and it runs pretty good [not revealing that to previous user!]

Being a 3-4 year old VISTA L/T the monitor is only around 15 inch diagonal. The battery is good for around 15 minutes. So I leave it plugged in. I run my 'test' 20 inch monitor, and plug my 'spare' USB keyboard in, as well as an old cordless mouse. It works well on 'other room' +N.. or is it N+... oh, well. I have it set to I boot up, when close the lid and run it.

For use with Falcon 4.0.... or FA-18....both of which I have access to....do you think the thing would work well enough to be entertaining? Not Super-Duper Glamorous, just...'fun'...?

Without knowing if it has a dedicated graphics card, it would be unknown. Most don't have a discrete card, just a low end embedded video chip soldered onto the motherboard.

Umm... This puppy has an ATI Mobile graphic device. I haven't cracked the case, so I don't know if that is actually a separate circuit board. ATI has current drivers for the thing, but when I tried to install 'em, the screen said they were not compatible with the computer. Looks good for general computing...

It should say what it is in the system, hardware device section in control panel. Most companies like Dell or HP never update their video drivers for their laptops. I don't know why. If you want the newest drivers that are hacked to work for the HP, go here....

CLICK

You can probably find out what it is by using this....

Oh, yeah... I instantly went to the Device Manager to ID the video...how I got to ATI's 'latest' in the first place. Well, from the sound of it, another 'cut and try' project...fine.

Thanks for the response....Otherwise you'd probably be at the Barbie, or the pool, watching the dancing girls! LABORing ....
