This .LDR breaks the game's link with the day_fade.pal which restricted the ammount of colors to a fixed set of 128 for none TRA linked files (the larger part of objects in EAW) and now allows each individual 3D object to use it's own full 256 color custom palette.
First try on my hangar and a tree model (all other objects still have no palette in this mode, hence the psycho colors, which I must stress are not a reflection of my state of mind yet, as some people have suggested).



allthough not so very different you can clearly see the difference in the blue colors and I hope it's proof enough that it works.



Ofcourse this will have a much greater impact on trees and planemodels in AFB and the FXEXE as it allows useage of both voodoo and full TNT models sofar created (that includes HR planes which didn't work with some TNT cards).

Borrowed a few instruments from another game and redrew the original cockpit drawing to smooth the green colors whilst adding shading to produce full 256 color palettes for each.
Instruments were just placed without paying attention to the layout or needles as all of it probably has to be totally redone anyway to get the most out of it, like with the B29 cockpit. It will take some time to incorporate these but I've got plenty of time, smile

Hi Sera,

Thx for your interest but I've allready created 5 terrainsets but not shown all of em. This set has additional river, mountain, city and coastal replacements as well as over 150 replacement fieldtiles. In total the set consists of app. 250 tiles in 17 folders and new tiles are created regularly or converted to fit from the other sets I've done. What you see are just the earliest tiles of the set, the basic tiles.
A mannagement system is under devellopment but may take a while.

Sadly I'm much too busy building new worlds to work on other projects. but thx a lot for the offer anyway. I can however use your cockpits when ready, they're gorgeous. A terrainset is very timeconsuming to create, but if there's anything else I can help you with I might be able to squeeze in the etra work. Just let me know.

Hi Spitty,

Yes that would be really nice but I doubt I'll live long enough to place these things into a new world. I've allready build a new railroad system for the UK based on true railroadmaps and this system could be used to create roads and waterways as well but it'll take quite some time to lay them out into a new world. There have allways been hundreds of possibillaties but placing a few thousand telephonepoles into the world isn't exactly my idea of having fun, but perhaps someone will come up with an easy way to do it.
On top of this my work mainly tries to maintain high FPS and for this sacrifices have to be made, at least on my old decrepid machine.
I'm happy with some added realism but I have no problem with having to sacrifice 24 bit multiskins, 512 textures, big battles or anything else, if that means the Launchpad players can keep on playing.
As it takes about 50 to 100 hours to create the above structures you can imagine how long it'll take to create the full 256 of em, not even mentioning structuring the world for it, but taking it one step at the time I think we may get there in the end.

In the mean time here's a quick airfield structure in the old trusted 1.2 format, 256 *256 pixels in 8 bit:
