If it wasn't for the seemingly-canned light glows and the source URLs, I'd think those were real-life shots, or at least pre-rendered in 3ds max/Maya/Softimage/Lightwave/Blender/etc.

If it's true...Crysis, eat your heart out!

(This isn't going to make the Global Scenery eat even MORE hard drive space now, is it?)

as much candy as it is, i want to know about the flight model...

i think xplane and fsx flight models arent realistic..

the plane that i felt had the most realistic handling is that Su-25T in lockon flaming cliffs...

Everything that I have read about X-Plane is that the flight model is realistic and can be used as an FAA certified flight simulator.

Like any model, it's only as good as the numbers that are put into it. That it's certified as an FAA-approved sim means that the model is very capable, as long as the numbers put into that model are correct.

X-plane doesn't work exactly like that.

That article in wikipedia is wrong from the start assuming Flight simulators take lift and drag in tables.

already in 1993 most of the flight sims calculated lift and drag.

The only thing X-plane does differently from recent flight simulators is comparing the 2D profile given by the creator of the plane with stored 2D profiles in database to have aerodynamic specs (coefficient of lift and drag) and that system in itself is not really the best way to handle things.

Most recent military flight sims like ROF and DCS BS/A10 are way more accurate than X-plane/Flight simulator.
