I still can remember the first time I got tasked with a intercept mission over Dunkirk on my Spitfire...
The British coast was full of ships of all sizes, ships going to and from France coasts, Destroyers, sloops, tugs, yatchs and even tiny fishing boats, all crossing the channel, but the most glorious sight was when I discovered the damn beaches, full of ships where you can jump from one to the next without ever touching the water, the flak is already trying to bring down the bombers and the soldiers are waiting patiently on the beaches under a rain from the hell, a rain made of fire and death...
S!

One of the EAW addons that impacted me really deep.

I have a version of Dunkirk that will work with OAW128, and hoping to make it available in the near future.

One or two little oddities to clear up asap, then I can let this out.

Oh man, I do need to paint a Hudson or two. Three of my favorite WW2 films have the lockheeds. "Captians of the Clouds" , "A Yank in the RAF" , and, Desperate Journey". I had 2 of the Airfix models in my collection.

Please, keep on Modding and preparing Dunkirk.

Tryout version of Dunkirk for OAW128C here (about 75 MB):

http://mogggy.org/dunkirk/OAW/Dunkirk152-forOAW.zip

Note this is for the OAW version previous to 128E.

This should be unzipped in the EAW folder which OAW128C (OAWSelect128V13 - or pre 128E at any rate) uses.

Under the EAW folder it will create a "1940 Dunkirk 15" folder which contains all the Dunkirk hierarchy of folders and files including in the "squadata" folder the Dunkirk manager 1.52 for OAW i.e. DunkOAW.exe.

Under the OAW128 folder it will firstly create a "C 1940 Dunkirk 15" folder. This contains a dir.set file, and the globe and intro smk files

It also creates four E folders containing the 128C versions of the Dunkirk exes:

E Dunkirk Open Daytime
E Dunkirk Open Nightime
E Dunkirk Squad Daytime
E Dunkirk Squad Nightime.

To run a Dunkirk mission do the following:

(1) Run the Dunkirk manager to set up what kind of mission you want. It's probably easiest if you create a shortcut to run the manager from desktop or windows bar. The manager takes you through the choices of "open" status where you can use the scenario elements to set up your own mission, or "Squad missions" ie loading saved historical missions for each allied or axis squadron. The manager will then set up all mission elements in the "1940 Dunkirk 15" folder. Note the last thing the manager tells you is which exe to load when you go to OAW.

(2) Go to OAW128. Load nothing except "C 1940 Dunkirk" and whatever exe the manager indicated i.e. "E Dunkirk Squad Daytime".

(3) Edit your eaw.ini to oldstyle=1 so that the game uses the original type of plane selection screens

(4) Run the loaded eaw.exe

If you chosen a squad mission you be directed to the appropriate plane selection screen. At the Mission set up screen choose "load" to load the offered squad missions. Note one glitch here is that if the mission is a night mission by loading the saved mission it may not set the mission time time to "night". You may have to do this yourself.

Please let me know about any further glitches you spot.

This is by no means a finished item.

Hi Mike,

No Fin flashes and the belly should perhaps be Sky?

As you say, work to be done, and like you I had 2 old Aifix kits, the early green/brown and the later grey/green. Now I have just the one and a Ventura, and yes I know the Ventura was a crap bomber and I would probably have been better doing the USN PV-1 Harpoon but 2 TAF initially used them with their Mosquitos and Bostons, and they were in the original "Lassie" film as I recall, which is about the only time you will see them.

Cheers

Peter
