All,

My hp has a bad mb, if you read thier forums this is a huge issue, anyway here is the make and model.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...p;lang=en#N1023

I'm trying to find another mb that will use the same chip and memory. This was suggested from info I find on the web.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128394&Tpk=MA785GM-US2H

Would this be the correct replacement?

Thank you

EDIT: I do not want to use the same make of motherboard as this is a huge issue with this motherboard.

sorry what I have.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...product=3740333

I have up the psu to a 350w and added a 1gb 9600 nvidia card

I'm afraid it's not going to work.

It's very difficult to replace a DellGatewayHP motherboard with any other part for a couple of reasons. First, the I/O panel (where you connect your keyboard and USB components) on DellGatewayHP cases are not removable, and any case you get from Newegg is going to have different locations for almost all of the ports. Because they won't line up you won't be able to put the new motherboard in the old case.

If you get past that, your next problem will be turning the computer on. If you look inside a DellGatewayHP, you'll notice that all of the wires running to the front bezel for the power switch, reset buttons and LED's will attach to the motherboard with a block connector, like you have for the power supply. Those don't exist on aftermarket motherboards. To connect a DellGatewayHP case to an aftermarket motherboard, you'll have to trace down all of the wires in the block and identify them, then cut off the block and attach the teeny tiny connectors used on aftermarket cases and motherboards.

None of this is impossible, but it's a lot of effort when you can pick up a cheap aftermarket case for $30 and use any aftermarket board with it. Your memory and CPU will carry over to the new board, and the drives will mount in any case. Do this, toss your old HP case, and save yourself a ton of grief.

I have a Antec case I will be putting it in, I wanted someone to reverify what I see that everything is correct and motherboards match chip and memory.

I figure the Antec is probably not going to need a micro-atx board, so I would just get a regular ATX board. You just need something that will use your CPU and memory, right?

Just went and ordered the MB. Has a $15 rebate so final price is $64.99. should be here by friday. Tried playing wow on my laptop, sucks 24fps when I'm used to 60 fps with everything maxed. Hopefully I should have no problem, the antec case has a old Asus P4 MB in it so I should be able to transfer the power and led connectors pretty easy. looks to be labeled the same on both mbs. Wish me luck.

One last thing...I'm not sure if you bought a copy of Windows or not because the recovery dvd
will most likely notice the Mobo change and not let you reinstall windows. Not 100% sure on this but
other manufacturers do it that way.

If you have to call, tell them it's the first time you have reinstalled and it's only on one computer. Tell them the old mobo went bad only if you have to. Usually works and if not, call again.

I went ahead and bought a Win 7 OEM. I know it ties itself to the MB, but this mb should be around for awhile if anything goes out I'll just order the same one. I'm slowly getting away from gaming and the only one I was interested in is F1 2010, but may not play to well on the system so days of pc gaming maybe coming to a end.

Update:

All went well so far booted up nicely. Seems to fly compared to when I had the hp, maybe all that hp junk slowed it down.
