While it's a cool video (wonder where they got the modern fighters from?) it still displays some of the shortcomings of the damage and physics of RoF: wings colliding and one plane loses a wing while the other shows no damage, crashing into the ground and bouncing and shedding large parts but not crumpling like you'd expect fabric and wood to do. There's a reason they called them kites, I would like to see in the future an overhaul of these things but it's still a cool video.

Bong, While it is human nature to find fault in anything, I think Brigstock is correct, I don't think ANY other sim does it better and to complain at this point in the development of the WHOLE thing is to be nitpicking. All crash-test dummies look fake on ultra close-ups at slow-mo. The other day I blew a wing off of my opponent, which flew right at me and I tried to evade but it impacted my crate somewhere and I FELT the impact through my FF stick. Simply unparalleled. Maybe next year it will be "so last year...". Many of you have been with RoF from the beginning, so perhaps for some it is getting stale already [ ???], but I hope I never get there...

I probably shouldn't complain, and it's really more of a critique it is after all the best of what's out there and when SoW finally arrives we (the community at large) will probably find faults with it as well. These days as movies continue to use CGI to do what was previously done with miniatures, (and today look really fake) continue to push the boundaries of simulating reality we start to expect more from them, I'm not trying to be a troll here I just look at this as wow that looks kinda fake, when what I really want is to say Wow, That looks so Real! It's funny that a few years ago we said that about other sims which have been surpassed several times over. When FSX came out it was supposed to be cutting edge and I really wasn't that impressed with it in DX9 and thought maybe it looks better in DX10? Now I have it in DX10 and I'm still not impressed, but RoF has been more more impressive with each succeeding update and who knows if it last as long as Sturmovik it may look like Real and it will be the ruler that we measure all sims by.

Well spoken, and no trolling was detected in your OP, or meant by me as well.

Pity the graphics settings were so poor in the RoF recordings. Lots of jaggies and shimmering. Really doesn't do the engine's capabilities justice. Otherwise great video. The video is online in 1080p. It takes a very strong computer to run RoF at that setting and a video-capture program at the same time. This video was done by a fan. I think we can afford to maybe give some (well-merited!) praise to that person before nitpicking the cr@p out of his work... Fantastic vid!

There have been plenty of videos in the past where RoF looked gorgeous. Having it in 1080p on very low/badly optimized settings is just a real pity. I liked the video and I think it was great work both creatively and in craftsmanship. The more the wasted potential saddens me. Using 720p, some AA and AF would surely have yielded much better results - or recording the raw material on a stronger machine, of course.

Yeah, but it is made by FAN, an amateur film maker, so don't expect Hollywood production values! - But of course you should be disappointed that he didn't buy a faster computer to give you that greater viewing pleasure, since you paid so many hard-earned euros to see this film... I'm fine with constructive criticism going a film-makers way, but not such over-the-top negativism as in the first reply I commented on... - There's actually a real person who made this vid and who reads the comments, let's give him some good vibes to continue film-making.

Let me say that XshadowY the author of this video is very prolific as he has a few of these fine videos on Youtube and any comments about RoF are about the sim itself and should in no way reflect the quality of his craft, and I'll reiterate it's a Cool Video!

Hi guys, accidentally I found the link from youtube to this forum and was quite surprised that someone took the effort of posting my little video here. Let me say that I`m really pleased that so many took the time to watch it and thanks to them who even posted a comment here. I wasn`t sure about how the viewers will accept a hand-made intro, but so far it looks like most of them, of you, found a little entertainment in it and about that I`m quite happy. Out of curiosity I followed not only the link to your forum, I also read all the comments. :-) Also leading to this one: Pity the graphics settings were so poor in the RoF recordings. I liked the video and I think it was great work both creatively and in craftsmanship. The more the wasted potential saddens me. Using 720p, some AA and AF would surely have yielded much better results - or recording the raw material on a stronger machine, of course. @FiveDigits: I`m really sorry that you don`t see the images in my video which you are used to see from the other RoF videos. I recorded the footage in 1920*1080, I`m playing it in 1920*1200. Except the "bloom" feature (which I don`t like) I have switched all adjustments to the highest possible value. My system is a Intel i7-980X with a Nvidia 470 GTX graphics card and 24 GB Ram, running on Windows 7 Ultimate. From the hardware side I think my system is appropriate to display all included graphical features, however, only the latest patch made the "Dynamic Lights/ Shadow" function working on 470/ 480 graphics cards, so for the video I was quite happy to have "nice" shadows at all. Before they caused a flickering and I had to switch them off completely. I don`t want to neglect the fact that there might be some issues between RoF and my system, but me, as a customer, am I not allowed to switch everything to maximum when the game is running smoothly? Am I supposed to check all the settings on low and medium before, just in case that they might look better? (which I don`t think) I think my job as the guy who makes a fan video is not to make the game look good or better, I think it`s to deliver some kind of atmosphere or bring people in the mood to play it. Because when we talk about "gorgeous graphics" in RoF there shouldn`t be any close-ups of lifeless low-poly gun-crews or trees which lose detail after 50m visual range. :-) Seems that no one is bothered by that. I hope you get my point... @Freycinet: Thanks for my defense in absence. :-) So, thanks again all for the time you spent on watching and writing! Best regards, Michèl
