Ok there's always one and it looks like me.

I copied the files from my EAW CD into a folder on my desk top then put a copy of a INI file from my working game into the EAW put the following 3 downloaded zips into the EAW folder and run them in the following order

128E
ETO SOUNDS
PLANES

Double clicked my EAW exe file game loaded ok lots of problem with graphics could not get out of game
tried again game will not load nothing.

A copy of part of a PM I sent as a reply to a question about 1.28E

Quote:

For various reasons it needs to be installed as a standalone version without OAW.

Make a new empty folder and copy and paste the eight 1998 CDF files, the music folder, and your "eaw.ini".
Then run the three installer files in it so that you have a complete standalone 1.28e set up and run the eaw.exe.

If it works then you can install the addons.

I would also add that if the d3d windower was needed in order to get a good graphic display with a previous version of the eaw.exe then it is likely to be needed with 1.28e.

Thank you for the reply MRJelly

But I do not see any CDF files on my original 1968 EAW install disc -

I do have 22 Channel files.

RE-EDIT

I have just copied the 22 CHANNEL files and my latest INI and Music folder into a folder ran the new 3 zips and all is well EAW never looked so good.
Many thanks for all your hard work most appreciated.

A common "problem", which I often forget.
One of the windows folder/file options is to "hide extenders for known file types". It may even be turned on by default.
If you have this turned on then you would see "WSOUND" (a "channel file") when I see "WSOUND.CDF" because I do not have it turned on.

Didnt notice this before but had a quick whiz using the dreaded keyboard as my mate wanted to borrow my joystick for the weekend but when flying I normally set the throttle at 60%. But when using the up & down keys the speed goes to max!
I then turned the engine off in flight and the speed then drops but again when I use the up & down keys the air speed climbs straight to top speed!
Is there something in the ini file that needs adjusting.
This is only happening in my 1.28e game folder.
Strange but keep flying right past my target once getting into a good shooting spot!

Mann oh Mann oh Mann... This is is not just a version, it's a revival of EAW, also with a huge add-on for the start. A must have of course.

Runs very fine with my old ATI card sending to history any grafical glitches. No more need of a windower neither.

My warmest congrats to all fans involved thumbsup
