I'm not saying this is wrong or anything and I know it was recommended by Ed_1, but I am just curious as to why this needs to be done. I have always had F4AF installed it to ProgramFiles(x86) folder and it works fine on my W7 64bit. I know I am doing it wrong, but wondering what the reasoning behind the different folder is and why mine works ok in the default folder. BTW, I also use Aeyes WS pits, HiTiles and Gamers Tools skin installer that my AVG thinks is a trojan horse. Everything works great except that.

Hi,
When installing to another folder then program files, falcon has access to write to the this folder without any security modifications on that folder.
Falcon saves you logbook, callsign, ... in the install folder.
In windows xp this works fine when installed to the default folder.
However in vista and windows 7, the program file folder is protected against writing. So windows redirect these savings to C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Progr am Files (x86)\Lead Pursuit\Battlefield Operations\
where ... is your windows login account.
That's also why some people are complaining about messed up installs, because they clean up only the program files folder and not the virtual store.

A solution to this all is to adjust security permisions after falcon install and before first run.
In explorer go to program files folder.
Right click on lead pursuit folder, choose properties.
Then tab security.
Choose Users the click edit. Again choose users -> Full Control.
When this is done falcon can write to program files folder itself.
No need for appdata virtualstore folder anymore

Falcon: AF has no 2D-Widescreen cockpits, if you choose a widescreen resolution in the setup, your cockpit will be "letterboxed", with black bars on the sides.

A solution to this is getting one of Aeyes widescreen payware pits.

http://www.cockpits.nl/

He has cockpits for different flavours of Falcon, so ensure that your getting the right one. wink
