Of course, now i want to fly "DCS:Strike Eagle" after A-10c. It's their fault. They should not have shown me the pictures!
A-A mode(from screenies)should make tanker refueling a whole lot more accurate.
3Rd party landscape capability is immense. How long for a desert storm MOD?

Really really nice I guess the like/don’t like factor for me will be how the weapons and functions are implemented. Will the weapons be by the book or by user wishes/complaints? But these pictures really look nice.

I supose that there will be some kind of difficulty/realism level for the weapons And +1 for DCS F15E Yes of course But weapons superiority over some unit must not lead to degrading the original weapon; it is a matter of protecting that vulnerable unit with some other defense mechanism. It’s up to mission planners to make a battlefield that is challenging without degrading weapons.

I can already envision some sort of SimHQ Red Flag or William Tell competition out there in the desert..

And keep in mind the Nellis terrain in the screenshots doesn't use DirectX 11 yet! Imagine what it will be like once they start to implement some of the DX11 stuff.

3Rd party landscape capability is immense. How long for a desert storm MOD? I'll do you one better. How long before someone does a European map and gives us what Andy Hollis promised with Jane's A-10 - a Warthog sim of the war it was built to fight. (Bonus points for early 80's theme, mega bonus points if you can pick up Duran Duran on the civilian VHF radio...)

From now until year end, get used to seeing some graphical capabilities that will just not be possible in earlier than DirectX 11 GPUs. What kind of stuff are we talking about here? "Real" transparent water? Dust clouds? Realistic, not over-the-top bloom?

"Real" transparent water? Dust clouds? Realistic, not over-the-top bloom? Depends how much they'll be able to include, and that is yet to be determined. They just decided to attempt this recently. There's a good DX11 video here that RustyNOR posted in the A-10C forum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uavLefzDuQWe'll know more once they get farther along on the Black Sea map. Keep in mind the Nellis screens aren't DX11 and they look amazing. If they had little luck implementing DX11 and we had to settle on the visuals in those screens, that wouldn't be so bad.

By whatever part of the book it unclassified, if that makes any sense. Doug, nice article! Really really nice I guess the like/don’t like factor for me will be how the weapons and functions are implemented. Will the weapons be by the book or by user wishes/complaints? But these pictures really look nice.

HMmmmmmm,
What exactly does this mean?
"This goes for DCS: A-10C Warthog and for several other highly anticipated titles appearing in 4th quarter 2010."
Exactly what 'other' titles are we also anticipating? More simulation goodness coming?
