I´m still on my way to understand (fully) the map/mission editor for Steel Fury.
Have made a few (simple) test missions but in a short time they should be more enjoyable for others too.
Well i need to know if there are guys out there interested in new maps and missions?
If so, post a short comment here.
My missions won´t be that history accurate because of lack of unit and landscape informations but should be fun anyway.
When i have a mission or two ready for release i would also need a betatester to check if my stuff works on other PCs too and bug fixing too.

EDIT: check page 2 of this thread for the download link of my first mission!

Yes they will have briefings.
It took some time to figure out how they work but i´m able to to make briefings and in game messages now.
I also know now what files are needed to make the history text that shows up in the mission/campaign menu but i havn´t tested them yet.

That is something i need to figure out.
I need to check if i can use the Mod enabler for missions too. that would be the easiest way.

Count me in Rends if you can make it easy to install, don't have all the free time I use too, was laid-off for a couple months, but back to work now. But I'll help in anyway I can.
cheers

Just a short update.
Guess i have everything that makes a mission. From briefing over map symbols mission objectives and ingame mission messages.Not to mention music . Everything is in right now.
The first mission won´t be that uber. It´s more or less my learning map.
No stock files will be overwritten but there will be one line needed to be added to a current file using a text editor.
It just tells the game engine that there is a new mission.
I´m just doing some random functions right now so the gameplay won´t be always the same if you want to replay it.
If everything works well it should be ready to download this weekend.

Ok guys here is my first mission.

Get it here
Once downloaded the best way to extract the zip file is rightclick and choose from the context menu extract to "Rends Steel Fury Missions".
Next follow the Readme:

Rends first test mission V.0.1

Installation instructions.

First make sure that you have the JSGME mod enabler installed and that the Steel Panzer mod 1.4 (or higher) is enabled.
Next copy the "Rends Steel fury missions" folder into the "MODS" folder you find under
c:/program files/Lighthouse Interactive/Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942
Run the JSGME mod enabler and activate "Rends Steel fury missions"
Nothing will be overwritten!
There is only one line that needs to be added to a file so the game engine knows about the new mission.

Open the user_camp.ENGCFG with notepad. You find the file under

c:/program files/Lighthouse Interactive/Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942/data/k42/loc_rus/levels/LEVELS/camp/

2. Now add following line between { }

Rds1, txt_mc_Rds1, 1, 0, rds1back.tga, txt_cit_01, 30, txt_histrends_intro, rds1karte, levels\levels\cm_users\Rds1.level;

If you havn´t made or installed any user missions it should look like this after adding the line:

//Graviteam mission create system ver. 0.1

user1()
{

Rds1, txt_mc_Rds1, 1, 0, rds1back.tga, txt_cit_01, 30, txt_histrends_intro, rds1karte, levels\levels\cm_users\Rds1.level;
} //end of user1

Close notepad and you will be asked to save the file. Click on the yes button.

That´s all!

What i need to know is:

I hope that i havn´t forget any file. Please report if it doesn´t work for you.
Well i could need a spell checker. English isn´t my native language and there might be some errors in the mission description.
How is the balance? I testet it with AI only and the germans lost everytime if i don´t command a PzIII.
So it´s up to you to win the mission.
How is framerate?
Any suggestions or ideas?

Das was ich ins "user_camp.ENGCFG" einfügen soll steht schon dort ohne mein zutun. Kann es sein das ne andere Mission aus dem SP1.4 das schon benutzt?

Du musst nur folgenden Eintrag dort machen:

Rds1, txt_mc_Rds1, 1, 0, rds1back.tga, txt_cit_01, 30, txt_histrends_intro, rds1karte, levels\levels\cm_users\Rds1.level;

Hi Rends,
Just wanted to give you some feedback on your mission. It was excellent thumbsup if I had any complaints (and I'm not complaining comrade smile ) it would be it was too short and the German AI got 75% of the kills while I was controlling a PzIII WinkNGrin Framerates were very good. Nice use of Russian infantry, they scattered like ants when my PzIII platoon showed up and knocked out their AT units, mowed a lot of them down. Nice touch having some RU armor sneaking up behind that culvert to attack my platoon from the 6 o'clock position, we nailed them. Best part was when my PzIII and another PzIII from my platoon simultaneous landed HE rounds on a Zis truck. It went flipping through the air....nice thumbsup

But I did have a question about the install. In your WinRar file there are two files:
1). Rends Steel Fury Mission
2). _MACOSX

I have them both installed into JSGME but I only have the Rends Steel Fury Mission file activated, the _MACOSX file is unactivated. So whats the _MACOSX file for?

Keep up the good work and looking forward to that campaign your working on thumbsup

cheers

godzilla1985,
many thx for the feedback!

Well i´m using a Apple Mac here and zipped the folder using my Mac.
Guess the _MACOSX file is something like the .thumps file under Windows and only used by the Mac OS (where its invisible).
There is no need for the file. You can trash it. Seems i need to zip the files when running WindowsXP next time so it won´t confuse users.
Thx again for the feedback!
