FAA Pilots!

I have just uploaded a simple little 16 mission campaign featuring the Swordfish and a Fulmar or two. The missions are mainly based on historical events - the highlights of the FAA's spectacular early war exploits - as well as a mission or two intended to portray the later important role of Atlantic convoy escort.
As usual I have seasoned historical events with a healthy dose of BS and nonsense, just to make it fun.
Lots of variety, generally about 5 minute flights to target, some chance of surviving the missions although you'll have to jink and weave as you have never jinked and woven before!

The Flak WILL kill you!

The campaign requires 4.09m and UP2.0.

I'll post a link when it has been approved.

Can't see there is no forward view just a grey place where the windscreen should be.

If you have both 4.09m and UP 2.0 (or later) it should work. Can you fly the Swordfish and Fulmar ok in the QMB?

Love your campaigns, Flatspinman, LOVE THEM!:) Cant wait to try this one!

Aside from them being extremely well written and designed, I really like that you usually do not burden us with 40minutes-one-way commutes to the target and back (even 20, heck 15 minutes is much too long and monotonous). I hope other mission designers will take note, and/or at least state the length of commutes. Yes, yes -realism, many FSX flight simmers enjoy real time cross Atlantic trips... But Il2 does not have the complex systems to interact with, myriad of buttons to click, and dials to observe. Combine this with "dead" computer simulated world and boredom sets in quickly. (Sorry for the rant:)

@talhuman - bummer to hear that. I use the mod packs but know nothing about how to use them. Perhaps there's some other mod interfering, though what that would be or why I have no idea.
Try the mod maker's site. The Swordfish was made by il diavoli rossi. Google that plus IL2 and you should find some help. Sorry that I can't do more for you though.

@TychosElk - thanks forhelping out. That's all I know, too.

@Borsch - thanks very much! I make campaigns for people like me. Working, two little kids, lots of things to do,very little game time. Our taste is not everyone's but I'm glad to hear that other people share the same ideas.

Let me know if you have any more problems, questions or comments.

Hey talhuman - just asked someone else about this and they suggested trying the following.
Go to your conf.ini file in the main IL2 folder and then:

>Under [Render_OpenGL], the TexLarge=0

>Change it to TexLarge=1

I have no idea about this, but it sounds pretty nifty. Hope it helps.

This problem can be created by having too low an "object detail" setting.

Does anyone know if there are plans to release the Fulmar as a stand-alone? I don't want to download gigabytes just for it.

Is it not available at SAS or Il diavoli rossi sites? The Swordfish was developed by the latter group I know and they had it available to download alone. Don't know about the Fulmar though.

I have the Swordfish. Similarly, an improved Fulmar cockpit by Ranwers is available at SAS.

However, the base plane is an exclusive of HSFX/UP. I was wondering if this policy had been relaxed.

Possibly the Fulmar hasn't been released as a standalone because it is going to be released in a TD patch. I read somewhere (probably on the banana forum) that they don't usually like public beta testing of patch aircraft, but made an exception for the Fulmar for some reason. Maybe this is why it is restricted to HSFX/UP?

I've played now FlatSpinMans campaign, by the way, and recommend it. Just don't forget your lifejacket...
