Oh yeah! The first Shogun was one of my all time favorites! This is going to be something!

Cheers!

Looking good!

I just hope this time they put as much work in the AI as in eye candy. Was quite disappointed with Empire in this regard on release, to be honest. Empire looked fantastic but the AI repeatedly acted rather stupid in the campaign, both on the strategic layer and in the tactical battles.

Creative should be able to produce a more finished product with Shogun 2 at release than they did with Empire.

First of all they are using the same basic engine (warscape, I think), which they've had plenty of time to tweak and stabilize. The subject matter is already very familiar and the scope of the game will be more focused as Napoleon was.

They've got Jeff Van Dyke back to do the music which was always a big immersion factor of the TW games up until Empire. The mostly lackluster music in two releases after Medieval 2 made his absence pretty obvious.

Lastly, eliminating or downplaying ranged artillery and concentrating more on mêlée will return the game to the roots of the franchise.

The biggest issue I see may be sieges versus path-finding. From what I have read sieges will once again be a big part of the game----only this time more involved due to the complexity of the design of Japanese castles---lots of twists and turns with narrow passageways plus fighting in successive courtyards.

If they don't get path-finding perfect, this could be a nightmare.

Still, I am quite pumped for the game.
