Anyone know if Search and Rescue 4 wll run under Windows 7? I'm setting up a new box, and I'm trying to decide whether to partition and add XP for the old stuff.

Cheers!

Short of someone answering who actually tried it, I'll say that Win7 has been VERY combatible with older games.

Hey there Rick,

I have it on Win 7 64 bit and haven't had any issues. This is without compatibility mode.

It works fine on Vista. I so wish it had TrackIR and multiple controller support.

Works for me,

But I sure wish we would see S&R 5.FSX is limited in the way of actual rescues even though the hoist is usable.

Works for me as well, win7 32bit. Lack of decent controller support unfortunately had me abandon it again pretty quickly. It's just too cumbersome by today's standards. If a game ever needed a perfect controller setup it's this one. The flight model is too unforgiving to have to e.g. fiddle with the keypad to adjust views. Isn't there some app that integrates multiple controllers into one virtual controller?

I believe if someone with some knowlege could sit down with ArmA2, make a few SAR-helo models and missions we'd have a winner. The flight model in SAR4 is fantastic, but everything else is pretty crummy...

Thanks for the info, folks! I'll give it a try under Windows 7 when I get that setup. With 1 TB of HDD space, I'm thinking that I'll partition and run both XP and Windows 7 anyway at this point. I've found a lot of sims that need XP still, but I'll try SAR4 under Windows 7 and see how it goes.

I wasn't going to do the XP partition, but as I get up and running after a five year lay off from simming, I'm finding that a lot of my old favorites will be left behind without XP.

Cheers!

Anyone else have an occasional stuttering problem that starts every once in a while and repeats every few seconds until it's rebooted?

Also, is there a way to get rid of the head wobble or change the resolution to 1366x768?

Edit: Oops. Thought it had attitude command/ attitude hold. Nope, not even for Dolphin. And it doesn't seem to care about Windows preferred joystick, so GlovePIE and PPJoy are out.

I think the stutters were caused by the music. Turned it off.

There's a bunch of stuff mentioned in the manual not in the sim: no trimmer button, no VRS, no AFCS off, and its inability to recognize Windows' preferred joystick setting prevents the ability to add multi-controller support or any hacked trimming or attitude hold with GlovePIE.

It's a shame. There's actually quite a high-fidelity flight model foundation here.
