Question on ordering / shipping

Hi all
Short on cash these days, but I'm trying to get togehter the bucks in time for the 100USD Offer on SB2.
I was wondering: Living in Austria, should I order from the US, or will shipping costs kill me? The German Website I once saw selling it also had insane shipping costs (like 15EUR or such...)
I need a decent source that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to ship here.

shipping is free, as I understand it ... Steel Beasts Pro Personal Edition
Is now available. Shipping is FREE! (Place orders below.)
Target audience: Military professionals and hard-core simulation fans. Intended use: Training on the soldier's PC, using exercises that don't require an operator / controller.
Please note that Steel Beasts Pro PE ships with a hardware device (a USB dongle) for software protection. An available USB port is required.

Well, you "should" have. Law abiding citizens would report their imports on their own. But of course, how is anyone to find out if you don't. Still, you can't take not paying customs for granted, so there's always a chance to see 19% VAT applied plus eventual customs fees (or whatever the current VAT rate is in Austria).

I ordered the sim and the upgrade directly at eSim, got it within a week, paid no customs duty. from the U.S. to Austria in a week - now that's lightening fast. Still pondering to order it ... as they have the 25$ off until August, 21st. OTOH, I am pretty sure I would order 2.5 later on as well, and most likely I would be charged for that, too. So it propably makes sense to wait until 2.5 is out. Michael.

I'm also looking to purchase, I am from the UK.
I saw this:
SB Pro PE 2.5 will be made available both by DVD and digital download
When will this service be available or will it be quicker to order as normal form the USA?

- well, you'll need the USB Dongle anyway, that was meant for upgrading, I fear. You'd have to order by mail to receive their means of DRM.

Ordering SB Pro PE now (at $100.-) and later the 2.5 upgrade ($25.-) will cost exactly the same as ordering 2.5x in late August, except that you can play now and if you don't like it you don't need to pay for the upgrade, and you can profit from the immediate availability of the downloadable upgrade rather than waiting for the shipment after the official release. As DocW suspects, the CodeMeter USB stick is a necessity both to play it now and to get the upgrade, so here's your chance to prepare yourself in time for the new release at no extra cost.

RSColonel_131st, I feel for you, but there's really no other way but to bite the bullet and buy it. I told myself back then, if it was a physical object that I valued as much, would I pay $125 for it? The thing is, at least with me, I'll pay $150 for a piece of hardware quite easily, but I feel wasteful when I spend more than $20 on a piece of software. Mostly I'm right, because the hardware will usually offer me a lot more long-term use/enjoyment. But does SB Pro PE fall into that category? Is there anything comparable out there? I don't play it often but I would hate to miss the few times I do get around to firing it up. And I feel I owe it to my hobby to to own this masterpiece. Just order from eSim (because you always should order from the source if you can) and grit your teeth when the bill comes, especially customs/VAT. Once it's up and running you'll completely forget about it all.

How is this for compatibility with windows 7 64 bit ? Are there any issues I should consider before I take the plunge?

No. Since version 2.460, SB Pro is Vista and Win 7 compliant, both 64 and 32 bit. It still is a 32 bit application, but for all practical matters that isn't terribly relevant for SB Pro PE. WRT software, it's funny. People seem to be fixated on stuff that they can touch, and have no problem paying a heap of money for the hardware ... which actually is utterly useless without software. And looking at my PC, the software that I need easily exceeds the value of the hardware on which it is installed. Over the past two decades I have spend a LOT more money on the software than on the actual computers. And typically the software lasts longer than the hardware. Since I started with Steel Beasts I've gone through a 486DX4/100, a Pentium 66, a Celeron 400, an Athlon 1.5 GHz, and Athlon64/3500, and currently some Intel dual core machine (I don't even care to remember the CPU speed). Six computers in one decade, not counting the four notebooks during the last seven years. How can we seriously argue that hardware offers more long-term use?

I think it covers any solution your monitor can run in RSC. I purchased this quite early on and it has never let me down, never had any issues and it does bring a smile to my face when I rumble along.

I've been using it with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate for a couple of months now, with no problem whatsoever.

Ditto to the above. You just need the 64 bit version of the Codemeter software, which is installed automatically I believe.

Hello, I pushed the boat out and whacked $100 on my credit card (don't tell the missus). I had the Email confirming the order, do you get a Email confirming shipment? Also for you UK guys, how long did it take to get delivered, I am starting to feel the need to blow something up! Cheers!

Oh man, i'm normally very patient but when it comes to things like this I feel like a kid at Christmas again!
Ssnake, did you see much of an increase in sales during this sale period? I've been waiting for a couple of years but decided I couldn't wait no longer.
Thanks for the answers guys.

Interest seems to have picked up recently, yes. Shipping is done the same or next working day. If there is a prolonged downtime we either announce this or close the shop - it's pretty simple.

I looked on eSim Forums and did not see a page like this so I will ask here.
I have 2.460 on a single disk with dongle. I should be good to go for 2.53 upgrade, correct?
Can I order now or must I wait until the 21st? And finally, where do I order? The order page did not show 2.53.
Thanks for a great sim.

Thanks for a great sim. Have a look at this post: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2999155/Ten_Years_of_Steel_Beasts.html#Post3058513 Ssnake, sales manager and XO or CO (or whatever his rank in their simulation crafting empire may be) of Steel Beast's manufacturer Esimgames confirmed it a post or two later. So it pretty much sums up what it will be like. Michael.

No, I'm sorry. All copies that we will send out from now on will be the new ones, at full price.
It's just that we don't have them yet ... probably on September 6th. However, we may open the shop earlier for those who already have a Codemeter stick so that they simply upgrade their license.

Ssnake, is the 2.5X upgrade still slotted for release on the 21st? I looked through the forum but there appears to be some confusion so not sure if that date is still firm or not? Thanks for keeping this legacy in tip top shape!

No. While there is discernible progress, my recommendation is to plan for something else this weekend. It will probably be ready early next week, I just can't guarantee you the 21st. Heck, I wouldn't rule it out. But before I announce it in public, I want to test it personally and see that it really, really works. And if they are still working on it, it probably has to work on the first try in my test in order to give it green lights.
Having said that, the first files for download will be made available soon on SteelBeasts.com, also I will put up the Release Notes there.
