Hi all,

This is my first post, hopefully I've got this in the right forum.

I'm thinking of buying one of the Logitech G series racing wheel setups, but I've had a look at the reviews of the G27 and the G25 and it seems like the difference between them is fairly minimal...the only reported improvement over the G25 for the G27 is less whirring noise from the wheel motors. The G27 also reportedly lacks the sequential gear shift option that the G25 has. Not that i'd use it anyway, the entire reason I want the G series wheels is because of the H-shift.

My question is this: The G27 seems to go on Ebay for around $400 Australian. The G25 anywhere from $200-250. Has anyone owned both? And can give some advice on whether its worth the price premium to go for the more recent model?

As an aside and an optional question, if anyone here is from Australia it'd be great if you could tell me where you got your wheel from.

Thanks

Not that you can´t get an answer here.
The G25 has been discontinued as a product and the G27 is the successor to that, with a few improvements.

G27 has 6 buttons on the face of the wheel, the G25 has 2. I wouldn't give up 4 of my buttons at this point. Not having the sequential isn't a big deal for me, since I still have the paddles, but I know some liked to use the sequential for a handbrake in rally sims. Supposedly the helical gears in the G27 are a lot better as well.

ISR went over it pretty well, about 5 minutes into the piece:

ive used both, my mates G27 and my own G25. TBH losing the option of sequential shifting on the shifter really killed the G27 for me.
FFB feel is an acquired feeling so its hard to tell if the G27 performs better than my G25.
The benefits of having extra buttons on the wheel imo is dependent on the sim/car u are driving. ie running the Skip in iRacing doesnt require any buttons on the wheel bar 2, for voip and reset.
G25 pedal geometry can be fixed with a trip to Bunnings or other local hardware.

i picked up my G25 from itestate in Sydney but just check http://www.staticice.com.au/ fro the best price from online PC stores

For what it is i don't see an extra $200 of value in the G27.

Thats basically confirmed my impressions.

The G27 is an undoubtedly improved model over the G25 but I'm not sure its worth the price premium so I think I'll stick to finding a used G25 somewhere.

It's unfortunate they're so expensive there. I got my G27 for ~$240 plus a $60 rebate on top of that at Amazon. G25's are usually that much or more, even used here.
