I just got an offer via post for the Home and Student version for £59.99. I was wondering though if anyone has tried it? I seem to remember there wasn't much improvement on the last version.

I'm using OpenOffice at the moment, but I really do miss the "familiar" Word and Excel... I don't mind shelling out the cash --- if it is worth the money.

I'd say it's worth the cash (Home & Student Prices that is)....it's very quick and responsive but like any Office upgrade the changes come very subtle.

What you'll notice more than anything is in Powerpoint and that may or may not be helpful to you if you have to give presentations/talks etc, the reason I say that is because it is very easy to come out with some very professional looking slides due to the different bits and pieces you can drop in there.

The pictures can have the usual borders etc but it's the finishing touches like the reflections and 3D imaging that you can easily add which makes a big difference.

If you didn't use Office 2007 the worst thing you'll have to deal with is the grouping of buttons at the top of the screen. Because you get used to previous Office applications, the change will have you hunting around for ages for the simplest of formatting tools.

Yeah, I used the 2003 and 2007 versions before and aside from the pain-in-the-ass compatability between .doc vs .docx and .xls vs .xlsx, the grouping made no sense to me. Ok, so they grouped it... and I felt so lost....

Is the "grouping" still in 2010 then?

Worse, it has pervaded over to other programs like Outlook. Although after using it for a while, I rather enjoy the ribbon.

IMHO the changes to Outlook 2010 are very nice. I like threaded messages and being able to minimize all the crap on the left and right of the main message window.

Software4Students is selling MS Office Professional Plus for £39.95, which is almost £400 cheaper than what's advertised on the MS website.

Is this even legit??

Oooo... I got two links that says it's all good!

The Ultimate Steal and MS UK Education website both say the same thing.

I wonder what's the catch though? Single-PC install?
