The old one gets held up at the video card check forcing a change in launching it. Probably my favorite space sim, looks better than it's age would lead you to believe too. Good physics and navigation, and you can't just run in blasting. Takes very well to a flight stick as well as smoothly playable on a netbook. Much easier to sink into than the X games, and there's a solid story as well as going solo. I know I've run it on XP on my netbook and Vista 32 on a lower model graphics card. Must have to do with higher resolutions and/or 64 bit. Tried cuttin vsync, shading and dropped to 1280x768 and it ran better, but not perfect.
