Geez, Flex. If you're going to put this much effort into the buildings and terrain, why not make them playable? Something like, make a GFAC player option to call in air Apache strikes.Depending on your AI, it could be multi-player OR single player.

It's looking awesome!

One of your Apache radios are tuned into a ground channel on which AI ground units can call in strikes while you're on a patrol mission.

I think the FAC was one of the first things we scripted, it's on my copy of it anyway. They can mark and call out with different coloured smoke and IR beacons.

But yeah, one of the purposes of the patrol mission was to respond to ground units for various activities. You'll never quite know what you'll get, think of it as a "lucky dip" mission. Glad you're liking where we're going. It will get better, we've only just scratched the surface when it comes to polishing, much of the polish work will happen towards the end.

BTW that really was an Imperial Walker, Dave Photoshopped it in. The wag.

Playable buildings? smile You have an interesting idea for a sub-game right there though. Playing as a ground FAC with a laser designator, a map and a pair of bino's is a lot of fun in ArmA2 Multiplayer. It would translate quite well into CH.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Come to think of it, look at the satellite dish, doesn't that look like it could be pivoted and used as a laser cannon?

Maybe "Imperial Walkers" will usurp the Nazi zombies throne of CoD, secret mission anyone?

Whenever I watch the Empire Strikes back I always find myself thinking what a coincidence it was that the Rebels decided to out-fit their snow-speeders with harpoons and the Imperial army just so decided to march on Hoth in spindly-legged walkers. The rebels would have been stuffed if the dark side had turned-up in M1A2's.

Cheers

I couldn't find a "Shower the Combat Helo Team with Profuse, Mushy Gratitude & Congratulations" thread so I'll just post here.

I just got around to checking out this forum and wanted to say how great your work is folks. The graphics, attention to detail, and the (clearly) big fan base is great. This is surely going to be one for the books. Regards, and keep up the good work! thumbsup

Note #17

A few experiments have been undertaken to establish whether micro sized green-zones can improve the look of the large areas of empty terrain. So far the results are quite good, the work level is acceptable and the resource hit is negligible

Cheers
