We are proud and happy to release the final mission set we will sell for Yankee Air Pirate*. It has gone on sale at www.yankeeairpirate.net.

After Rising Sun is out, we hope to offer one last set as our gift to our customers. It is not certain that we will and it is, as usual, a secret.

Here's the final set. The Briefings are included in the installer instead of on the website. The website is being torn up and rearranged for Rising Sun so watch your step and wear a hard hat.

First, the toys:

The last of our Essex Class carriers, the Bonnie Dick

The still floating Kitty Hawk. (Thanks for the jet, Nils.)

And our flagship from beginning to end, the Midway.

Also, our excellent AC-130 and CH-53.

The stories:

Moving Mud. An early mission from Dixie Station into the Mekong Delta ten years to the day before our last Midway mission.

Okay. It IS a first person shooter...

Song Be 1, 2 3 One of the first places that the South Vietnamese stuck and beat the VC. You fly a B-57, A-1E and a UH-1B.

The Secret. An early mission into northern Laos against a town...a thing we keep secret.

Targets of Opportunity. Take your Spad up to North Vietnam and "deter" river traffic.

Uong Bi. A raid against the main power station from the Enterprise.

Midnight at Uong Bi. What the Scooters could not do, the Intruders could.

Cam Pha BDA. Tired of bombing? Try taking a few pictures. If you do not refuel, you will not be able to use AB. If you do not light the AB, you will not get back to the ship. And when you get there, you have to land one heavy, fast jet...our most challenging trap.

Northeast Railroad. We have to send you. It's a long way. But they did it every day in a Thud.

North of the Z...the DMZ. The USMC flew regularly to North Vietnam into a very dangerous part of the world. It looks simple. It is not. Just find things to hit and hit them.

Dragon's Jaw 3. Put a Walleye on the Ham Rong bridge. This has to work. Right? No. Not the right weapons yet.

Alpha Strike. A sky full of aircraft and AAA.

Bed Check, Lights Out, Looksee. Recce the generators...all three...at night and trap in the dark. Then hit them. And then just when you know they know you are coming, go take pictures of the strike and get back to the Coral Sea.

Sitting Ducks. One of my favorite missions...killing planes on the ground.

Prince of Darkness. Our best night mission. Early Night Owl strike on the Northeast Railroad.

Red River Rats

LZ Prep...or Commando Vault. Drop a HUGE bomb to clear the way for a helicopter assault. The briefing tells you how.

Surprise Package. Hammer trucks in Laos a mile up.

Laredo. High speed FAC mission in the PDJ. Keep it moving and you will make it home.

An Loc. A huge battle destined to be forgotten...except by those of you that fly these missions.

Dragon's Jaw Finale. This time? Yes. This time it goes down. This mission is the precursor to how the US fights air wars. It is a huge mission with a sky full of planes all doing their jobs. Yours is to fly in formation, wait until Lead illuminates and drop your Paveway's on the bridge and watch it fall into the river.

Semper Fidelis. Only the Marines would be airlifted into a city that is surrounded and on the verge of falling to protect people. You just have to land in a tiny spot and put them there.

Fall of Saigon. Their motto was First In; Last Out. Fly an Air America Huey into Saigon with battles being fought beneath your skids to find and land on the apartment building. Then head for the Midway to land. (you can finally hover over the ship)

Here's what happens just after you leave.

and then what?

Go home.

and the war ended.

It has taken us a long time to get you here. But now you know how to fly, how to trap, bomb, dogfight, intercept, refuel, build a fire support base, resupply a camp under fire and rescue men in trouble. And you know history as it happened as told by the men to lived it.

It has been my honor to have met and entertained you, our customers. I'll let Mike speak for himself.

Damn, lets not make this sound like a retirement party, I already did that once. Just to let you know, support will still be available. Wounded

Many, many thanks to those who taught and assisted, in any fashion on this project.

Having 2 small issues with Song Be series. Number 1 runs fine but number 2 mission crashes at 80% load and mission 3 my huey has no rotor visible and the gun system is white on the sides? Just me or a bug?

I will check to see if we have another general error or you need individual data. Email YAP so we can send you what you need.

Nope. Skin error. We will fix it tomorrow. Still checking on the CTD on Song Be 2.

Our first Practice Mission, Gunnery at Gila Bend. I think I will do a video of it since it is one of our favorites.

Here's a real Gila Bend gunnery story:

I was #3 in a flight of 4 F-4C's going to the range from Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson. This was to be a more free style attack rather than a square pattern bombing the targets. The Air Force had arranged junk in the desert (not unlike Deuces has on his Range map that we use). One target was a group of trucks. We were to approach, then pull up several seconds apart, roll in separately from different angles and strafe the target. On this day, #4 did not follow the instructions very well and ended up hitting us with 3 rounds of 20mm ball from his Vulcan cannon, two in the wings and one in the canopy, which blew it out. It hit between the guy in front and me in the back. It hit in his ejection seat parachute of all the very inconvenient places available...like my lap.

Hearts a-pumping, we were at full mil on a heading to Yuma MCAS when Lead, the instructor, said that he would happily check us over for damage if we wouldn't mind slowing down just a little so he could come out of afterburner. We then responded by coming to idle and popping the speed brakes causing him to squirt out in front of us about a mile and making him madder than a hornet.

We landed. I inspected the seat before the front-seater could open his canopy...in 110 degree temperature. Satisfied that it would not light off on it's own upon opening, we got out and caught a ride home in a Huey headed to Tucson...my first rescue in a Huey of a total of two.

I did not see Gila Bend that day. I saw it later. I was knocked out of the sky by a desert storm while flying an RV-3 and had to run on the deck to any-port-in-a-storm and that was Gila Bend again. My wooden prop was frayed but again, heart a-pumping, I was visiting desolate Gila Bend. It looks like the scene we present.

Nothing like being an eye witness although I would rather have visited when I wasn't frightened. In fact, every time I have been to Gila Bend, it was an emergency. I guess that's why they call them emergency runways.

By the way, here is the list of Yankee Air Pirate missions in chronological order. We will send a zip file to each player shortly that contains the entire Google Earth file of all the missions. Seen at once, it's a real eye opener. While we released these to create logical packages, we knew what was going to be presented and we saw the pattern all along.

We have quite a few more missions that we will send out from time to time that we found to be repetitive or boring but as a freebie to our players, they might be of interest. Some just could not be included because there was too much going into a set already. Some really great stories could not be told by the game engine or our skill set. Some things just could not be confirmed to our satisfaction. Some...well we shipped 180+ missions and that's just a few less than I actually flew so we are calling it a combat tour.

Some will be combined into a 10th Free set based upon things places we did not go.

We are going to try to encourage people to actually fly them now. You do not know what you are missing by just storing them for a winter's day's entertainment.

Yankee Air Pirate is unique, authentic and without competition. We are very proud of it.
